Ask the Experts / Re: Questions-The Breeders Cup
October 10, 2007, 10:09:10 AM
The Thorograph gods put together a seminar, where Jerry discusses in depth each horse running, along with the sheets. Its fab.
Bottom line: they supply everything, if we lose our money, its our own fault...
2 weeks, very exciting people !!

Ask the Experts / Big Weekend !!
September 30, 2007, 05:38:49 AM
Congrats on SC and Race of the Week, TG. Great weekend so far everyone !!
Skip, you\'re a bit too verbose. Maybe you can email Jerry privately ?? It might serve to be more effective and appropriate.

sorry, we should get back to handicapping. Esp. with the big weekend coming up. What\'s that expression: When the cat\'s away...?? Was all in fun. No ad.

go for it skip, they say 60 is the new 40 and 40 is the new 30 (thnx be to God for that one). Why not start a new venture. TG, while you are considering applications: can I have a \"Dear Sandie Column\" for all fellow fashionistas who love handicapping/thoroughbred racing and don\'t want to clutter your board with their questions ??
Joking, REAL QUEST: Is/was there a pool for the BC: If yes, when is the next one? Can you give me the dates? thnx v. much.
I tend to agree with spa on SS, unfortunately. I think his day came and went so he is a bet against for me in the BC, probably. We\'ll see how he fares next race !!

However: intuition and going with your \"gut\" comes from something doesn\'t it? We feel as if it doesn\'t, but your experience, information, tools (i.e., speed figures) all combine quickly into one thought: that we feel is our gut. Though really its the left and right side of the brain working together and spitting out an answer we \"feel\" good about.
Its why thank goodness we get smarter with age. Not sure if we become better handicappers with age, do we?

He looked tired before and after the Travers: we were saying he was spent.
Um, not sure how he\'s going to fare in his next race, guess it will be more than telling for the BC. Powerful animal he is, when he\'s up to it.

has SS run since Saratoga? If not, what is the next race he\'s scheduled for before the BC?
Thnx v. much for any information !!

Ask the Experts / Re: The Slowest Horse In The Race

ok. much on this board is still greek: but I learned how to read the sheets !! I realize that many of you take breaks, but hope everyone here is up to bat for the BC, though. Need the sage advice of the great players here: to help me draw my own conclusions. Can\'t Wait to see everyone\'s thought process as we analyze the races that day !!

Ask the Experts / Re: Barry?

That was a great read skip & thnx. So many variables, as I\'ve learned in the past when I thought I had it handicapped to perfection only to have a %$&^ come out of nowhere. But the more good/solid info you have, the more you can go with what feels like your gut at the time. And ultimately its what we all want to do, I think from the novice to the pro: go with our gut and WIN !!
thnx.

Funny posts here. See both your points: the ease of picking favorites (though I can\'t do it yet). But sitting them in with the next 3 contenders, now that\'s a pricey feat. Wish I cashed.
Let\'s all try to get along until at least until the Breeder\'s Cup where I plan on cashing my own SUPERS, with the help of you all. esp. the great Barry Irwin (Team Valor !!) and that Jerry guy. Oh, and my own handicapping abilities that I\'m honing on this site.
thnx.

One other thing. Girly, glad you are a therapist. Love that !! Barry Irwin, \"Mr. Team Valor\" and a great journalist. We are an eclectic group, and to put it succinctly, that\'s why I love horseracing, the people it draws and the gamut of feeling it evokes. Very glad I found your site, TGJB and TGAB. If anyone gets off track (like I just did) from handicapping or drug use issues: I say suspension from the board for a week !! Now back to handicapping Belmont Park !!

thnx, TGJB, I didn\'t want to speak nonsense, so I played it safe. The intro is quite informative. I do thank spa for his input yesterday. After reading girly\'s Peter, Paul and Mary lyrics, and being so touched, I was darn close to writing a small dissertation on \"Why I love horseracing\" !! After I read spa\'s post, I thought better of it, lucky for all of you. Glad the board is back on track. I do look forward to writing when I have more \"in depth\" rather than \"inept\" questions.

Now, that again is funny! I appreciate all your insights, as I\'m sure girly does. And spa, I can see your point. And Richie and D-Pub, the track serves the purpose of getting the game in your soul, I think, in the beginning. But when you don\'t have a clue, it breaks your heart pretty quickly. Then you decide to learn. That\'s what happened to me.
Anyway I\'ve been down the hall in the intro room and didn\'t want to chime in until I could \"add value\" and I do look forward to this site giving great info on who is most likely to win, come BC time.
Nothing like horsemen, that\'s for sure. Enjoy Belmont, people, and WIN !!

Girly, every master is at first a disaster: and I speak of myself here, not you. You\'re funny and your enthusiasm is WHAT THIS GAME IS ALL ABOUT.
I read some of the intro page last night, and yep, I\'m back in St. Claremont\'s dreaded Trigg class or Physics. I thought what the %&^$^ while looking at it ?? Though as the web owners point out, it may be hard at first but stick with it. And I will. Thnx for the tips on reading materials. I don\'t want to be told what or who to play, I want to make educated assumptions and dispel those who say, its a horserace, no rhyme or reason behind it. Oh, and I was kidding in the first line. Hopefully by the BC I\'ll know more than the smaller the number the faster the race.
