2 hours of national TV coverage on a beautiful day at America\'s oldest race track as 46,528 jammed the facility that was built to handle 20,000 and everyone got to see Willie Beeman. No not the quarterback character from the decent (if you like football) movie starring Al Pacino. The horse brought to us by Richard (tricky) Dutrow and owner James Riccio a 2 mere days after winning the Albany Stakes for NYB horses on Wedneday.

If you don\'t like sports movies and prefer comedy? Go to the DRF site and read the article of how tricky watched the race from his favorite Chinese restaurant in NYC and how his owner calls the shots on where to spot the horse. They were seriously considering entering him in the Travers. Yes the same owner who in the past 30 years has had horses trained by Oscar Barrera, Peter Ferriola, Gasper Moschera, John Parisella, Bruce Levine and now tricky. I know I missed a couple of juice trainers de jour.

Jimbo\'s string of disappointing performances says it all on a day where it was a major coup to get national coverage without a single triple crown contender in the big race. The dead heat made for buzz I\'m sure as I was trackside and did not see any coverage. I suppose as a true fan of this ever crumbling sport that was a better conclusion than interviewing tricky after winning the Travers from a Chinese restaurant?

Seminar:

1st Logical conclusion, Baffert ships, goes wire to wire, big play on Jeter by those that ever picked up a sheet and a $ 14.40 exacta covered the win bet on the reverse.

2nd 600,000 Pletcher de jour who worked 59.3 on July 29th but did not race until August 25th, did have steady works in between but if your not sitting on a race after that work, when are you. The 6 & 8 were logical well bred alternatives and TGAB was on the obvious $19.60 exacta.

3rd A complete puzzle and why not Pletcher/Rosie coast to coast @ 5/1.

4th Cinemitize was a gift, TGAB was all over the 10 @ 22/1 who got left 3-4 lengths at the gate and had the 2 for a cold but very unrewarding $ 29.60 exacta and $ 146.00 tri.

5th Did Rigby not bounce or bounced and was still good enough to win?

6th Chaos on the turf again, a good price if you had it, George Weaver is having a great meet, TGAB gave out Anita Chica to the seminar and radio audience as Bill Mott has had many better days than this one.

7th the 2,6 & 9 were the figure horses mentioned, the Rice horse was not impossible and was used by many underneath as well as the 12. Some got lucky as 25/1 on top makes a nice tri & super.

8th TGJB passed the race, TGAB talked about the 8 and others, I had a strong opinion and Optimizer finally ran the turf race we\'ve been waiting for after D. Wayne got done playing Triple Crown.

Stakes:  Zagora and Hungary Island were given out and logical as was Contested as a single, The Kings Bishop, enough said, The Travers was exciting, TGAB liked Liason like many, Golden Ticket was discussed often throughout the day. A very rare poor ride by Ramon on Alpha 3W 4W by the king of saving ground? After watching the reply a few times Alpha had funny action on the final turn almost looking like he pulled Ramon out, not sure if he was trying to change leads on the turn or what but I was shocked to see him that wide. Anyonewith more knowledge or better visual perception please chime in as I\'m very curious.

The 13th had me home by the time it was run and concluded Bill Mott\'s and yours truly bad day.

No sour grapes here, I\'ve had many losing days at the track; A huge crowd, the humidity rose throughout the day and it was uncomfortable.

Worst moment of the day: Long lines @ the brew pub

Best: I ran into a guy upstairs in the clubhouse who has owed me money for quite awhile, as he reached into his pocket I said oh boy! Then he pulled out 2 paddock passes which my friend enjoyed as she got some great pictures there.

Looking forward to get away weekend as this 40 days and nights wears on you. A new face in Wrongly made his BBQ debut and richiebee & topcat take their act on the road this week.

Were still only one bet away from level for the meet, not even a big bet but it is a must to at least shoot par here.

Good luck,

Frank D.

\"big play on Jeter by those that ever picked up a sheet\"

Hi Frank,

Would it surprise you if I told you that Jeter never ran a race as fast as Brigand? Anyhow bud, tough on Ramon who gave a perfect ride to Alpha considering the way the race came up.Can\'t resist, Frank, the ride of the day by the ground losing bum Rosario on the kinda slow D.Wayne elephant, Optimizer.

Re Travers,Beyer very generous,he\'ll hear about it, giving a top, Beyer 100 to Alpha(TG 0 with ground loss). The old SPA slow route time rears its head again and they just can\'t resist making the horses faster than they ran,no other  dirt routes, blah blah, whatever.Dead heat Travers winner and confirmed slow slug, Golden Ticket, eligible for NW 1X, entered by Mc Peek in Travers after the race for alw nw 1X did not fill, what a game.

Kings Bishop a joke with the very difficult Tricky winner getting a Beyer of 97(TG 2-ish)Waiting for a conspiracy idiot to tell me that was a drug induced performance, as the field staggered through the lane.Clueless Clown Sabini who Chairs NYSRWB must be vomiting after grandstanding and with Tricky winning from 200 miles away with \"extra\" precautions.Horrific performance by Trinniberg and the ground saving Currency Swap(rail a bit ugly yesterday for a majority of those who were pinned there, imo Travers winner aside)

Your Mott horse in the last received a horrible tactical ride from Lezcano but should have still won,NS\'s moms\'racing brilliance burning the money even more for breeding guys.

One swing gets you out, 7 days to go.

Best Luck,

Mike

Frank
It was great to meet everyone.  Big thanks to Allen
and his call on the 3 horse in the Travers!  Thankfully
the Dh didn\'t destroy my belief in Alpha and sent me home
a winner on the day.  Can\'t wait for Bill\'s race by race

Lucky? A solid Shopper\'s Network winnah!   Linda\'s had a right to improve, it\'s amazing how many horses actually find they like it, once they discover the Joy of Winning . . . and the board pattern was my favorite \"lukewarm support early -- then completely forgotten, the final five minutes, as the chalk rush intensifies.\"  Ship it.

FrankD.

Mike,

Love ya, value your opinion and especially your pace scenario knowledge.

BUT: The next time you post an opinion on a race before its run will be your first ?

I take my shots and those who know me see me back them time and time again.

I\'m curious as to your explanation on Ramon\'s perfect ride in the Travers as he lost 5 lenghts on both turns and dead heated in a MILLION DOLLAR RACE?

Good luck,

Frank D.

miff

Frank,

Ramon had other options, what were they given the way the inside went.No power steering or brakes comes with these horses.Ground loss not nearly as relevant as you think, the WHOLE trip far more relevant.

Touting or putting up picks is poor form IMO, I just never do it,would never want to throw anyone off.

I never thought of it that way - posting piks would throw others off?  I always thought it was to reinforce like views.  Good point.  Point taken.

\" Ground loss not nearly as relevant as I think\"

Then 2 genearations of winning horse players have spent 25-35 per day on data whose major premisis revolves around trips AKA \" ground loss\".

Sorry Mike, That dog just don\'t hunt here!

Expect to be present when attendance is taken next week . . . at least for Sat/Sun

HP

Post race analysis with 20/20 hindsight is the poorest form of all.

HP

miff

HP,

Think you mean post race selections after a race, agree.Analyzing a race after it is run is just that,an analysis.

Mike
miff

miff

Frank,

Love you bud, Kool Aid too strong though.

Best always.

Mike

HP

Kool aid.  Good analysis Mike.

HP

miff

HP,

Better analysis would be Alydar was faster than Affirmed, EZ Goer faster than Sunday Silence and many many more.

TGJB

We find the Kool Aid tastes better with a bit of geometry.
