\"We find the Kool Aid tastes better with a bit of geometry\"

Agree JB, geometry highly relevant, all else equal, no so much when all else is not equal.

I for one am tired of seeing that guy in the winner\'s circle.  Going on for DECADES.  It\'s a farce.  And I\'m not talking about Dutrow.

Must be something in the SPA water, a disgraceful performance by Royal Delta.

Boscar Obarra

I posted in the other thread she came up quite washy late in the pp. none of the others did, and I dont know if that normal for rd.

miff

Forgot Mike Smith was wide, that\'s why Royal Delta lost. The fact that she was empty is irrelevant.

TGJB

For what it\'s worth, I made a 4 horse box aagainst RD, playing that the huge effort would set her back for a while. And didn\'t use the winner.

a) re being washy, the question is whether it\'s a cause or an effect of being overstressed, and

b) if you don\'t think ground loss made a difference in that outcome you\'re the one drinking Kool Ade (sp?).

) if you don\'t think ground loss made a difference in that outcome you\'re the one drinking Kool Ade (sp?).

.. you have no idea of what empty means!
miff

TGJB

Yes, she was empty. And despite that, would have won if she was not much wider than the winner on the turns.
TGJB

miff

Agree, but tracking off two common horses is a perfect trip, circling wide or not. Most would \"pay\" for that trip with a 4-5 shot.

Extremely washed out before the race. The jock was literally sweeping sweat off her with is whip as they were loading. Something was wrong with her. Maybe the water. A courageous try considering she wasn\'t right today.

From Mott on the sub par performance by Royal Delta:

"My filly ran a good race, a credible race, but not her best race," said Mott. "Obviously Love and Pride was the best horse today."

Sorry Bill, your definition of a \"good race\" is different from that of any informed players that watched it.RD was beaten by a very common Love and Pride, weight and ground does not justify getting outrun the last eighth in a pedestrian 13.39.

JB opined she was over the top,it looked that way, especially coming out of the last turn.

Its Tricky best, horrific start cost her the race.

yeah, looks like RD\'s had enough. the fast race at CD followed by a mile and a quarter race where she was life and death to hold off a serial hanger. visually, RD looked spent at Del. but, man, Love And Pride needed absolutely everything to fall into place to win that one. it happened.

Jim was talking about all the poor performances this w/e. there were a lot of them, on dirt. outstanding performances on turf and poly though: the track records by Zagora, Obviously, and Dullahan, and very game 2nd place finishes from Hungry Island, Mr Commons, and Game On Dude. great stuff.

jerry

Love and Pride was no surprise to some playing doubles. She was hammered with the 2, 10, 12 and 13.

TGJB

Enough, or enough for now? If they don\'t run her again before the BC Classic and she\'s a price (getting weight), how do you handle her?

That would be the perfect scenario.  Lotsa rest, overlooked, and in light.  But given her last two races, hard to see Mott (when he has so many others already for BCC) going that direction.  Hopefully owner will insist. And heck, with Questing to beat maybe they\'d think Classic was easier spot (obviously it\'s not).
