Speaking of the WBC. ESPN screwed the racing fan once more. In cutting the hour and a half racing coverage to half an hour. God forbid they should take some time from the all important college wrestling program that followed. I say this despite having been a college wrestler myself. At least they barely squeezed in all 4 races.
Remember when they were supposed to show 5 races of the Sunshine Millions and only showed a couple of races and a stretch run because a hockey game went into overtime because of a tie. For crying out loud, when a horserace ends in a dead heat do they make the horses run a couple more furlongs?
I wish they\'d schedule their next racing show after a soccer game, where a 90 minute game really ends after 90 minutes. End of rant.

espn is coming up ace\'s everywhere - in one race last wknd they attributed track speed carrying as the reason for the races outcome ...

I seem to remember reading a column by Steve Crist when it was announced that ESPN would take over the Breeder\'s Cup broadcast about how wonderful this would be for racing and we would finally get a showcase for racing on television.  

I thought then that the kudos were premature until ESPN could prove that scheduled racing programs took precedence over women\'s volleyball and college baseball.  In this case (Saturday) it was the World Baseball series - from which the US had already been eliminated!  I had forgotten about the Sunshine Millions until you reminded me.

Even if the Breeder\'s Cup remains \"whole\" on the air, I don\'t see any positive effects on the Road to the Derby broadcasts, and expect that the Road to the BC will also have its share of reduced broadcasts and missed races.

It is disappointing that since the BC contract with ESPN, it hasn\'t gotten any better.

With all due respect Deb, horseracing isn\'t the only program that has been cut short due to sporting events going past the scheduled time.  It happens all the time when Tennis is on, and the NHL playoffs would routinely go over and cut into other programs when ESPN had them. Also, your comment about the WBC not being interesting because the US was out is off the mark. The WBC has been very entertaining to baseball fans. Many major leaguers have participated for foreign countries and the games have been highly entertaining.  If you didn\'t like the Japan/Korea game from last week ( the 2-1 game, not the game saturday) you just don\'t like baseball. Sounds like perhaps you aren\'t a baseball fan? I guess the World Cup Soccer tournament shouldn\'t be broadcast if the US isn\'t in it??

While it may be disappointing to not see the races live, there are many shows during the week that show the races with wire to wire coverage. Inside Racing on Fox Sports Net has a very good show that shows the major races from the previous week. You are absolutely correct though,  ESPN should be promoting their new Multi Million dollar investment better than they are currently.

Get a Dish Satellite and be done with it. TVG and HRTV are both included in their basic 100 channel lineup. You\'ll catch all the Dubai action, Japan Cup card, Hong Kong, etc. as well as non-stop domestic racing. TVG showed the Rebel live when ESPN baseball went into overtime. Both horse racing channels also carry replays in the morning. And what is not covered by them is carried on broadband through a decent wagering service (e.g. BrisBet).

But Horse Racing must and does go above all else , maybe they\'ll stop fighting during the running of the race\'s and afterwards , regain their sense\'s on a more perminent basis .

It\'s all economics.

Horse racing has a following of less than 2-5% of the population and Basketball/Baseball/football/and even college wrestling has a bigger following.What companies are paying for what air time?

Horse racing needs its own channel to prmote itself.

Oh yeah , we can\'t even get those together and we split the two seasons Magna (HRTV)has the winter/srping and  TVG Has late Spring/summer and fall.

I need two sat companies to see both.
