Miff and TJ:
Here\'s what I read directly from Bloodhorse:
\"NYCOTB closed Dec. 8, 2010. Taking a proactive stance, NYRA got out front by offering to switch OTB customers to its NYRA Rewards ADW. OTB customers avoided the typical hassles of signing up for a betting account that could take days to process. Instead, one could open a NYRA Rewards account in an advertised "10 minutes to post."
Since then, nearly 10,000 people have opened accounts with NYRA Rewards, which has generated $38 million in handle, according to Neema Ghazi, NYRA's director of marketing. That's significant because a wager through NYRA's ADW is considered an ontrack wager, which returns a larger slice of the takeout to purses than a bet made through one of the state's OTBs.\"

As for their racing signal on their web site, I too am pretty frustrated most of the time! Darn thing shuts off or logs you off after almost each race! Makes you think that their thought is :if your not betting...your not watching! On Derby Day I bet most of the card and it NEVER SHUT DOWN!

Everybody is again killing NYRA for NOT capitalizing on the closing of NYC OTB\'s/ What exactly do you think they should have done? Their on track attendance is up, their acquiring of new NYRA One account holders is up. And yes, most of the increases are by default, but WHAT ELSE should NYRA have done in the months the OTB\'s went away?
And if their business model is to run a more efficient and cost effective telephone account service for it\'s patrons so they keep more profit, what is the big deal to farm it out of state. They should keep it in state for double the hourly wage like NYC OTB did and go broke quicker?
NYRA petitioned the NYSRWB to get live video on their NYRA One accounts and they got it after years of being told no. That\'s a huge plus...and NYRA doesn\'t care if you keep $1.00 in your account, you still get the signal. Does any other betting ADW offer that to it\'s patrons?

Ask the Experts / Re: Dutrow Hearing
June 02, 2011, 02:47:52 PM
During cross-examination, Koenig pointed out several inconsistencies in Leveson's testimony and his written report, including the color of the substance found in the syringe and the volume of the syringe. Leveson initially thought the syringes were 6 cubic centimeters, when they were in fact 3 cubic centimeters. For a person with 14 years experience in drug testing, it\'s a little unbelievable how he can make that mistake
Koenig also noted that in the chain of custody of the handling of the evidence bag containing the syringes, the names of all the people who handled the bag were not recorded.
Though Leveson stated in his report that he "exhausted all leads" in his investigation, he testified that he did not investigate that claim nor did he interview three veterinarians whom Dutrow, in a subsequent interview, suggested he contact.
Joel Leveson, the board's director of investigations since 1997,was training two New York Racing Association employees how to do conduct a barn search. However, Leveson further testified that he did not conduct a "full-fledged" search, even after stumbling upon the syringes.
AND THIS IS OUR LEAD INVESTIGATOR FOR NYSRWB??? Did they wear gloves when they handled the syringes to then get proper fingerprints to lead them as to the ownership of them-whether it was in fact Dutrow, or vets, or asst trainer? Did they take photos? If they acting like this is a crime, then send in QUALIFIED people to collect evidence and treat it as such. I\'m NOT sticking up for Dutrow, BUT these types of things happen more frequently in racing than is needed!

TGJB:
NYSRWB still admits to some chain of custody procedural problems:
Jones testified that a shipment of urine and blood samples - which also contained the three syringes that were found in Dutrow' barn on Nov. 3 - were returned to the track because they had been sent to the wrong address[/b].
also:
Gonzalez said that following the notification of the positive he and a member of his staff did a search of Dutrow's Aqueduct barn on Dec. 18, during which no unauthorized drugs were found.
Koenig attempted to create a shadow of doubt over the chain of custody regarding the processing of the syringes. Gonzalez said he was given the syringes by state investigator Joel Leveson, but Gonzalez's name doesn't appear on a chain of custody sheet that was entered as evidence.
Jerry, to play devils advocate, stuff like this CANNOT continue to go on! Can we NOT GET this worked out? There CANNOT be any mistakes in the collection process and if any are uncovered they must be, unfortunately dismissed as evidence.

I agree, it was not a SURE indication, but it sure beats seeing him spin his wheels and not like the CD dirt! How many of us would drop any scratch on a colt that trained like crap the week leading up to the Derby and had negative trackside reports each AM? It was a positive indication...not a guarantee that he would race well like I stated. And we won\'t know how many times AK trained on the dirt surface at the \"farm\" getting dirt thrown down his face either. BUT I highly doubt CD was the first time AK ran on dirt surfaces with all the amenities at the farm and with an outstanding trainer in Motion!!

\"They\'ve turned the Kentucky Derby into a guessing game,\" Brown fumed. \"The introduction of synthetic tracks has created mass confusion among handicappers. In the Derby, you\'re left to guess whether a horse can handle dirt after running on synthetics.
\"This is an absurd situation to create for people who bet the game seriously. It\'s tough enough to beat it with good information and rational thinking, but now you have situations where it turns a race into pure guesswork.\"
Jerry-your comment of not knowing how well AK would HANDLE dirt was certainly answered by our friend Steve Byk and Mike Welsh and Steve Haskin and others on his morning ATR show each morning live from CD. EVERY morning, all the live guests all commented on not only how great AK worked over the CD strip, but how he STOOD OUT in morning works in the CD dirt...so how are we guessing? Not that I\'m saying how well he might RACE over CD, but he sure did great each morning. To the many TG users who listened to Steve\'s show, and others who use other products...AK was a definite play IMO. We did get good and useful information on his and others like or dislike of dirt, especially the querky CD dirt surface. People all week have been calling Steve\'s show for more info this week regarding workouts, especially on the new shooters who are grass/synthetic runners but as of today, none have worked out over it because of their desire to arrive later in the week prior to race day.
Thanks again for all your hard work and expertise and I look forward to seeing you again this summer at Carolina BBQ.

I was also at the seminar, along with two relatively new players. Both gained a ton of insight into race handicapping. While I also had a brutal day, only cashing in once all day, it is always a fun day starting with seeing a lot of great guys/handicappers at Steve Byk\'s Carolina BBQ hosting the TG event.
Good luck to all and lets put todays tough day behind us with a more profitable days ahead!
