You guys are more on top of this than I...where is the most complex card of \'better\' horses running this Weekend?  The steady diet of chalk is killing me.

Edgorman: Supposed to be great racing at Monticello this weekend.  The bus from Kutshers will be bringing fans the entire holiday weekend.

LOL! Not to make fun of your question, Alm -- but it reminds me of the scene from \"Lost In America\", where Albert Brooks\' character goes into the employment agency in some one-horse town, and asks what kind of jobs they have \"in the one-hundred thousand dollar range\".

To which the employment agent dryly responds, \"Well, lemme open up my file with all of the hundred thousand dollar jobs, and let\'s have a look!\"

I saw the movie when it came out of course and never thought any part of it was actually funny.  I don\'t remember that scene, because I tend to forget crap movies...but I can tell you it still isn\'t funny.

To each his own and all that rot, but the scene where he goes to the casino manager and asks for their money back fractured me.

alm: Porky\'s might have been a funnier movie...but consider this: Albert Brooks perfected his whiney neurotic and really never went beyond...his brother Super Dave was at least twice as funny...Brooks usually kills a scene after 30 seconds...and Julie Haggerty?  Maybe the most insipid ingenue to hit the screen in the second half of the century and her plunge in quality roles suggests that Hollywood couldn\'t bank on her and she probably works very, very cheaply.

OK, truce...this is obviously a matter of taste, not substance, and can\'t possibly be argued in any sort of productive manner.

I have friends who think I don\'t have the \"comedy gene\" because I don\'t find Jack Black nor Tom Green the least bit funny...and if I see Will Ferrell in yet another movie prancing around in his jockey shorts, I just might vomit until I flip myself inside-out.

TGJB: If you like Albert Brooks even a little, see I\'ll Do Anything, a seriously underrated movie.

alm: Truce is good, but substance can be measured here to an extent.  Can we agree that Larry David is funny?  Mel Brooks (even while he\'s napping) is funny?  Woody Allen (personal failings aside) is funny.  Carl and Rob Reiner are funny?  Sid Caesar maybe was the funniest?  If not him, I watched Rodney Dangerfield blow away Chris Rock live in a comedy club...maybe he was funniest?  Milton Berle killed you with one-liners?  And the list goes on.  When viewed in that context, where do you place Albert Brooks?

Meanwhile, I still want sound professional advice on which track to concentrate on this weekend.

TGJB: I don\'t care how many people like him, Larry David is not funny. And Chris Rock (like Pryor and Bruce before him) is a lot more than just funny.
