Ask the Experts / Re: Those charmed by and defending cheaters

I\'m usually a person who does not respond to this blog, more of a reader as a fan of the sport and someone who has made what I consider to be good money since being introduced to the sheets. Smalltimer seems to be someone who likes to create controversy since joining the blog a few weeks ago. I have found that using the sheets I have made a lot more money on turf using the sheets since I started using the sheets, OPS Smile over Flag Down in the 97 Manhattan. I agree there is less games played on the grass than on the dirt. As for the poly issues as with everything else I will adapt as I love the sport and they could be running on asphalt around Fenway Park and I would follow it. Some of us follow the sport because we love it as a place to enjoy our spare time. Ive been to every Belmont since 78, Derby since 82 and Preakness since 85 and there is no greater sport. So as Jerry pointed out on an earlier posting in the last week or so go back to talking figures or get off the page so us fans who want valuable info, get it and not the BS everyone else is bringing.

not to ask a stupid question, but I was unable to find a complete definition of everything on race shapes. Most of it to see is common sense but to use Friday PIM sheets as an example, what are the letters under the track name? Is it a simple grade? Also using R1 horse Magic Mountain, what are the two #\'s(4, 4) to the right of the class of last race. I\'m sure once I am given the answer it will be one of those duh moments, but thanks for an answer in advance.

Ask the Experts / Questions regarding Monba
April 27, 2008, 12:52:29 PM
I have not seen many comments out there regarding Monba. Is that due to the dislike of TAP? He took plenty of action in 1st future pool to close at 16-1. He went off the fav in FOY where he gets bounced around and gets a gash on the leg. More important he had throat surgery following that race. He comes back from that to win the BG. His pattern is OK if the throw out the FOY which plenty of you folks have no problem doing with regards to Pyro\'s BG because of poly.
JB, what would the thoro-pattern #\'s be if you took the FOY out?

You can bet them offshore, they just don\'t go in the pool. As for why the handles may be down other than poly, since Twin Spires bought BrisBet they do not take action on Keeneland.

Ask the Experts / Re: Derby views from a Non-Ragozin user

while I am new too this message board, I have found some of the comments a little over the top. The last time I checked we all buy these sheets to give us an upper hand at the window. Whether you like Pletcher or not his horses keep putting money in our pockets. Until they stop him from doing whatever it is he is doing all we can do is play the horses by the numbers. While I have been using the TG sheets since Silver Charms Derby (cashed a lot more IRS tickets since) I am by far an expert with them. But I have followed the sport religously since 78 here is my opinion of the Derby field.
For starters I am so confused over the Blue Grass that I am simply going ignore that race, other than to point out Dom until he wins on dirt is a poly horse.
SS is the most logical horse in the race off his CD race and works, but probably will offer little value unless 5:1 or better.
Zanjero is usable only underneath in ex/tri.
CQ could be used if not for the 8 week layoff. If Mott was trying this move maybe!
Curlin, while #\'s are good no race @2 and low price makes him a bet against.
AGS pattern is usable if 8:1 or better.
Cowtown Cat is very playable and I like his last work and think he is coming into race better than any of Pletchers horses. Another thing if you all think he is going to use this horse to benefit his other horses I want what your smoking. He wants to win a Derby so bad he is trying to get them all there the best he can.
Hard Spun is bred to run all day and has a good pattern.
NoBiz would finally have to run a new top, and Tagg nows what it takes at CD.
My plan is to use CC, HS and AGS on top of NoBiz, SS, and Scat Daddy.

Would be nice too see TG to start adding a line on trainers stats for poly to dirt in the same fashion we have had info on turf to dirt. Street Sense moved way up in BC while other horses regressed.

Where exactly did you find this study? As I am having no luck finding it on the archives page.
