Ask the Experts / Re: Fantasy Sports Enters The Real World

Trust that?
Takeout is shown in the Daily Racing Form. At least it was a few years ago when I bought the Form.

Thank you for your service and God bless you for that. Gamble to your hearts content I have no issue with any individual that participates I just choose to run the other way. My commentary was focused on the fact that these one-day fantasy sites are gambling, but with no transparancy therefore you don\'t know what you\'re up against regarding takeout. We all know what takeout is in horse racing and we bitch about it all the time and rant that we\'d be better players and generate more revenue if it was 10% instead of 16-25%. But to not know what the takeout is in the hyperbolic world of fantasy sports, coupled with the millions and millions of $$ in advertsing...I choose not to participate.

Google what the takeout is and you might find that it\'s 8 to 10% I believe that like not at all. Big scam, no doubt with a few fat cats making obscene amounts of money off the idiots.

My rule of thumb is that if you hear tons of commercials for it on the radio or TV, then it\'s a scam to be avoided. There are no bigger advertisers these days lately than the fantasy sports sites.

Ask the Experts / Re: Biggest news of the weekend...

Thanks to all the \"move up\" talk on this board about that trainer, I scored a nice win bet on that race at nearly 15-1. Perhaps off-the-turf helped also?
I sure hope the jocks that tumbled in the stretch are OK, I haven\'t seen any news.

Ask the Experts / Beholder

Another impressive win this past weekend for Beholder. Dick Mandella has been a BC powerhouse. Any chance this mare can win the BC Classic? I have not seen her Sheet numbers but assume she gets a little pull in the weights.

I checked the Redboard Room and Candid Desire was not mentioned in the analysis. What am I missing?

Ask the Experts / Santa Anita on Belmont Day
June 06, 2015, 09:38:49 PM
It was a fun day at the Great Race Place. I bet against the TC winner but stood and cheered with all the others as he romped to victory. It was a profitable day with a nice win bet on Slumber at 14-1, and another winner Missy Mouse at Santa Anita at 11-1. Great atmosphere at the track, not a huge crowd because of the expensive premiums to get a decent seat. Valets lost my car for a long time, almost wrote it off as stolen but I eventually got it back. Great weather great scenery pretty girl by my side, a nice profit on the day, got my car back and watched an historic Triple Crown. Happy day all in all.

I\'m on Dortmund also. Convinced the rail was dead in the Derby.

Simple. I saw the analysis liked the 2 and 4 and after looking at the sheets I liked the 4 better so I played 4/2/all, 4/all/2 multiple times. In hindsight I should have played a big exacta box also. Thanks again TG

I forgot to thank TG for my only winning bet of Derby day- CD3 the two horses mentioned in the analysis ran 1-2, and that trifecta payout was outstanding.

Maybe an X on Oaks day is appropriate, but it sure also looked to me like the rail was not the place to be in the Derby. There was no closing on the rail, by some proven closers.

Hey Ill-bred, I\'m WI-bred and I\'m with you and also have him in Vegas futures. I got 90-1...you? Slow early pace yes but there\'s no run-up there, so that would seem to be a huge factor when looking at the early fractions. They start the timer when the gate opens not after they\'ve had a chance to start running like in the USA. Like you I\'m also going to play him underneath the fast ones because he should be running at the end. The thing I like is that he pops the gate well and gets position early in the race. As long as Martin Garcia on the 8 doesn\'t bear hard left again at the start we should get a good position and then with racing luck should be there or thereabouts at the finish.

The \"Copper Penny\" is my 0-2-X longshot play on Saturday, backing up my futures bet on Mubtaahij. I think this horse hits the board and will probably key him underneath MUB and the fast ones, and play a simple WPS on him. He earned enough points for the KY Derby via the DQ victory in the Fountain Of Youth; didn\'t need any points from the FL Derby and Pletcher\'s other horse did so I think the jock had instructions to keep him under wraps and save him for this weekend. Ownership group has owned some good ones including an Oaks winner and Shanghai Bobby who as I recall ran too fast too early and didn\'t make it to the Derby. Different approach with this one. Good young jockey, good post (12 now) and a top as good as Firing Line who seems to be the wise guy horse this year. I\'ll take this one over Firing Line all day.
