Just curious...any products available for the World Cup card this Saturday?

TGJB

Yes. Email going out and products up later today.

Question re: Dubai R3 Analysis - faces older horses at level weights?

TGJB

You\'re right, I didn\'t look carefully enough, made an assumption. Still like the play, but less so.

Will Meydan sheets and analysis be put up in the Redboard Room? Curious to see how many Asian and Australian races had figures.

Why didn\'t Johnny V. and/or JJ ride Mshawish?

richiebee

Johnny V at FG on Greenpointoverrated. Castellano had mounts in four graded stakes
at FG plus one other stake. Dettori had already ridden Mshawish.

Not a peep in these parts about California Chrome beating a decent field in easy
fashion. Do not expect he will be kept in training long, but the BC is at SA this
year, so...

Art Sherman mentioned the Pacific Classic at Del Mar and then the Breeder\'s Cup Classic are his targets. Art has a box right behind mine at Del Mar and I hope he sticks to the plan. Fun to see CC hook up against Beholder who crushed the race last year.

Re Dubai, it seems that UAE winner Lani gets a trip to the derby. By way of the times for the day, Lani is on the slow side. In spite of a poor break and wide trip, his fig looks only in the TG 4.5 range after adjustments(Moss/Beyer gave Lani an 83)

Lani is really bred well.

If memory serves Toast of New York was considered a slow Euro in 2014 and ran a big B.C. Classic.  My point is - well intended imports from wherever seem to grade slow and often prove to be competitive at classic distances. Maybe I just remember the successes and not the failures.

East - West, Mubtaahij is apparently headed back to the U.S. per de Krock which will be an enigma.  On the west to east angle, O\'Neil ships over there in an attempt to garner some TC points vs lesser competition and oh well. But seemed a good idea before the race. He was faster than 83 Beyers and a ways behind the winner.

In any event I deduce that the well bred Japanese colt Tani can be expected to get the classic distances and he is a handsome one for this year\'s import poster child. Plus just what we need another grey horse @ CD.

Beautifully bred, but no thanks.  1:58.4 not good at all for near 9.5f, compared to Chrome\'s 2:01.9 for 10f.  Four horses covering two lengths also doesn\'t scream class field.

At least the mutter\'s win last year was visually impressive. Even in this crop, Lani\'s going to have to jump way forward to make noise in Kentucky.

Mike,

Until proven otherwise all Dubai horses a toss in the Derby.

if last year\'s impressive and relatively fast winner was no impact, hard to believe Lani will have one, breeding or no breeding.

Unfortunately, Lani won\'t be overhyped like last year\'s winner.  Mubtahij went off 8-1 in the final Derby Futures pool, or something insane like that.

PT Barnum smiling somewhere....

Mike,
If the horse is in the TG 4.5 range, that means to date that there are only 4 or 5 Derby hopefuls who are faster. That puts him in range with some improvement. If the trainer decides to go with first time lasix and he is training well at Churchill, I will at least use him on the bottom of my tickets.

More than 10 have run better than a 4 already.

Is that as 3yr olds, or are you counting 2yr old numbers as well? I\'ve played most of the preps and I didn\'t remember that many having run that fast this year. I guess I learned something today! I would still consider using Lani underneath if he is training well and is getting lasix. He does seem to have the breeding. Thanks for the info.
