Can you get 4/1 on AmPhar?

Not at the windows, but according to Bad Luck Bennie, if you like AmPhar, you
are supposed to be looking to buy a ticket to the Belmont sometime today and
\"pinhook\" it for four times the purchase price after the Preakness...

Pimlico Friday observations: (was in a nearly empty Belmont backyard, not in
Baltimore):

Miss Preakness Stakes: Jimmy Jerkens\' Spark broke from the outside, was 4 wide
down the backside, 6 wide the turn. The winner, Irish Jasper, was purchased for                                    
$12,000 as a yearling by owner/trainer Derek Ryan; she is now 5/8 lifetime, a
graded stakes winner, and picked up a breeding right to Ghostzapper in addition
to the 90K winner\'s share. Well Done!

Jim McKay stake: Bold Thunder was in control at the eighth pole, shied from the
ghost of Kegasus in the Infield, letting Ben\'s Cat pounce and prevail. Good for
the King, bad for your correspondent.

Good luck to all today, will enjoy the post mortem and the run up to the
Belmont.

Richie seats for Belmont day are basically gone, a few singles at $175 and not many pairs at $405 per available.

Last year on Preakness morning there were tons of seats still available. I think Bennie got beat to the punch this year as I\'m assuming speculators gobbled them up in bulk once the 90,000 cap was announced.

I\'m still of the opinion that plenty of seats will be available at 1/2 of face value by 630 this evening.

If you think AP is winning the Triple Crown, bet a bunch of $2 win tickets on him at Belmont Park & then sell them on E-Bay for 10 to 20 times what you paid for them if he wins.  Derby win tickets are selling for around $40. Preakness for about $20.

It also might be a good hedge on a bet against AP as well.  Say you like Materiality in the Belmont.  You\'ll probably get no better than 3/1 to 7/2.  So if you bet $200 on him, throw another $20 in & buy 10 win tickets on AP.  Materiality wins you get back about $800 profit.  If your horse loses to the Triple Crown winner, you either break even or make a little profit selling the win tickets.
