Think AP\'s ink far outpaces his actual accomplishments. Sure he can win this but damn I would love to at least keep him out of the exacta. Gonna try.

Tip of the cap to Frank D since I swiped his Derby summary.

For our seasonal visitors, it\'s light reading of little nutritional value.

Looking forward to the seminar!

Boscar Obarra

I think you\'d be wise to actually look at the payoffs before just tossing him.  He\'s not 2/5.

If you like something besides the 2nd-4th choices, the exactas will be plenty value with AP on top or second.

Strike

May be \"light reading\" but very enjoyable nonetheless. Great read. Like you, also looking forward to the seminar.

Bob,

Great stuff per usual however \"a wise horse player\" may be the ultimate OXYMORON especially pertaining to MOI!!!

In lieu of sharing royalties \"no shades necessary in your future\" I\'ll settle for an invite to the Turf Club should your personal Sistine Chapel ever be completed?

Good luck,

Frank D.

I hear you, Boscar. If I had settled on a Commanding Curve type I would have no problem putting him under AP a bit, but this Derby is really a struggle for me right now. What was it last year? $340 under the 5/2 Chrome? Good advice.

Thanks, Strike, and Frank you are the first invitee to the grand opening (whenever that is). Especially now that I know what JD to get.

joemama

Year before(2013), 9-2 over 34 to 1 = $981 for two dollar exacta. Not bad at all.

Very well written, as always, Mr. Night.  I will have a very clear and well articulated opinion on this race around 7:00 PM, Saturday.

Roger,

I was just thinking about you. Friday being May 1st is not only Oaks day but opening day at the Lakes, the land of Les Hulet, Fio Rito and Ross Morton.

The 5 claimers who will be staggering home at 4.5 furlongs in a non winners of 2014 & 2015 condition could very well be enhancing the guest experience of the inner tube next winter!

Frank, you can only imagine how flattered I am to be remembered in the same context as Finger Lakes\' opening day. (insert smiley face, and BTW, why don\'t we have emoticon options on this board, particularly the guy banging his head against the wall?).

If Hollywood or TV ever needs a set for location shooting on a film about racing that needs a realistic 1950\'s backdrop, Finger Lakes is their place.  Their idea of capital improvement is refilling the towel dispensers.  They have a viewing area with individual TV\'s, and I\'m sure they will update them as soon as Philco starts making flat screen models.  As far as the racing itself, their website advertises \"the fastest two minutes in sports.\" I can only assume they\'re talking about the 6 furlong \"route\" races having a two minute duration, though it\'s not really clear to me how their two minutes of anything is going to be faster than two minutes anywhere else.  Frankly, any number of minutes there feels exponentially and painfully longer than anywhere else.

Good luck this weekend.  Hope you can jump start the nest egg for the Saratoga back yard.

TGJB

Roger, that was a classic. But you\'re not getting emoticons.

Hype, shmype, part 2 - click through at your own peril. Thanks, JB.

I liked the 5th betting choice, Boscar. But only played a little in the win and exacta pools since it seemed pretty chalky overall. I had an AP/Frosted exacta saver, but that was it for the winner.

Edgorman

Eloquent and insightful as usual.
