The final parimutuel future pool takes place this weekend. If you guys can think of some relevant horses who are not on the list, post their names here by Wednesday afternoon and we\'ll add them to the list for the futures package. Derby 1592, I already know who you will be betting.

Now you definitely have my interest and I really want to see the latest sheets.

I am hoping that you are hinting at St. Averil since he is the only horse I played in Future Book 2 based on my guess that he probably ran a buried big fig in the losing San Felipe effort (giving 6 lbs to the winner along with a wide trip) off an almost perfect Derby line heading into the race (lightly raced, fast, but not-too-fast late 2 and early 3, with a nice March jump to a new top that makes him fast enough to be a Derby contender). Assuming he did run a big fig in the San Felipe and can pair it up in the SA Derby, he would definitely have a very nice line heading into the Derby.

I did not think St. Averil was necessarily a super value at a little less than 20/1 but probably the most likely Derby winner at that time (probably still is) and I figured he might actually end up going off as the Derby favorite if he won the SA Derby so it was worth taking a shot at the odds (he was 23/1 just before I played him about an hour before the pool closed).

Here\'s a few horses that aren\'t in the pool that if you could include would be great.

Mustanfar - 2nd in TB Derby, running in the Wood
Pomeroy - 2nd in Gotham, running in the Lexington
Purge - 2nd in Rebel, running in the Arkasas Derby

I know he has a distance-challenged pedigree and is going to run next in the Lex, which is less than 2 weeks before the Derby, but I am still interested in seeing the last fig for Saratoga County. I was surprised that he was relegated to the field for Future Book 3.

Thanks in advance.

How about Suave, who ran several ticks faster than the Fl Derby winner. He\'s pointed to the Illini Derby. Had a nice line prior to the 2/14 alw race.

May they all come home safely!

Derby 1592,

The trainer for Saratoga County has made it clear that he is NOT going to the Derby. HP

TGJB--

The one that comes to mind after some of the excellent suggestions already posted here is PRO PRADO.

DERBY 1592--In my opinion, the San Felipe was the best 3yo prep race so far this year. I was impressed with the top 2 finishers, especially after considering they needed to move earlier to avoid the loose horse. Go to Kentuckyderby.com where you can watch this and other 3yo prep races. I ask you to take notice of the pull-up in the San Felipe.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

Please, please, let Smarty Jones win the Ak.
Derby by 10 so that he\'s 4/5 come DD! I like Eddington in this pool...

TGJB:

Why not include some surprising horses we may have missed?

May they all come home safely!

Not a bad thing to go with any 3yo colt out of UNBRIDLED.

I think he needs to win the Wood, or run strongly for Henning to send him to Louisville.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

I watched it and, in between bufferings, I sort of forgot to watch the pull up. What in particular were yo refering to? was it that he never got by Preachinathebar?

I need to view the San Felipe again to confirm it, but I don\'t think Preachin wanted to let St. Averil get by. I think he may be like his old man. The top two look to be good horses. Let\'s see how they shake out next start. I thought Consecrate ran a good one, though I\'m not familiar enough with the track to say how good the effort was and I haven\'t reviewed the chart yet. Baffert could have four horses in the Derby. Odd\'s On may be a bit better than people think. Let\'s see how his surgery goes.

CtC--

Watch how Preachin\' pulls up several lenghths in front of St. Averil. (go to Kentuckyderby.com)

Right now he\'s 22-1 in the futures...I\'ll say he\'s close to 30-1 by Sunday.

I agree. ODDS ON will be a good one....Peakness bound???

Good luck,
joe B.
