I am now completely convinced that Wayne Lukas has no eye for a thoroughbred. He can\'t compete at the sales any longer. He\'s stuck with a ceiling of about 400K on bids. The problem is the really well conformed horses are all going for near a million plus and he doens\'t have the purse any longer to allow the market to identify a promising horse and then out bid the others on it. Now, its up to his discerning eye to find a horse that can run for a \"value\" purchase of 300-400K. He\'s not been able to do it. What he does is purchase nice pedigree in that range and nice pedigree in that range has conformation issues. Its comical to watch.

He did get Charismatic for 300K plus is my recollection. But he ran him for a tag also....TWICE.

Did you all see Gethesmani in that Turfway Sprint yesterday.

Hes a 3/4 to Strodes Creek.

Hancock had to settle for 3/4, Halo was gone. Then again the Bald Eagle trained Strodes and he is gone too, so Hancock had to settle for a fraction of him in Lukas. What is Lukas doing?  By the way he\'s got Azeri training well...we will see.

I did a red board review of Thoroquick for the first time. I like it alot. The format is more concise for my eye. The patterns easier to discern. I\'m assuming the fee is the same. F.Y.I. the two month Smarty layoff isn\'t noted in the p.p.\'s.

Ctc--

I need to stay away from Lukas....he\'s ice cold.

Turfway seals the track before the big race last Saturday...the race was begging for a steal on the front end. No guarantee that HASSLEFREE would have lasted, however he would have had it all his way if not for being sawed off at the start.

Good Luck,

I have followed Lukas for the last 35 years and see his horses every morning on the backstretch. He had better stock when he was traveling the Rodeo Circuits in the Dakota\'s starting out.

The Santa Anita meet is only just the beginning of the end.
