I guess the folks that turned us down on our offer to California Chrome knew what they were doing, eh?

The futures ticket I would cash wouldn\'t quite take the sting out of not owning him....lol

107 beyer and likely at least another pair of the 1 I would assume on TG

To JB\'s credit, he had this one much faster than beyer heading into this and those figs played out yesterday

would have been better if Bayern had stayed in as that would have been a real test but with Candy Boy, etc pointing for the SA Derby, he should be battle tested by Derby time

Sorry Jim....did not see this string as I typed.....reposting here

Not always do you toot your own horn for giving out an 8/5 shot but this one had TWO last #\'s 2 lengths faster than any other horse in the field. He was rested and healthy and his closest competitor was not.....so in a way this one was a Free Square in the Multi-race Exotics.

This one may be a very serious Derby Contendor. Along with Candy horse trained by Sadler California is holding a strong hand. Other than Cairo Prince some the east coast horses have work to do. The Tampa Derby winner needs to prove more.....and Lawrence (Honor Code) runs in an Allowance race on Wednesday. I suspect as a Florida Derby Prep.

I know Derby points count big every year but this one maybe more than ever. This thing is WIDE OPEN!!??

Beyers for Cali Chrome (107) TG -1.25, GOD(116)TG -4.25 somewhat fast for a lightning strip with a live rail, which does not figure in the equation, i.e.the live rail.

Very interesting now in that 2 top Derby contenders from 2013 have not started yet.Still seems Cairo Prince has a chance to move to the top of the class with his next start.

Honor Code goes wed at gulf in an allowance. Shared Belief under a veil of secrecy up at Golden Gate.

So how does Sherman keep him this good for another eight weeks?

He\'s fast enough to win a Derby but they don\'t run it in early March.

Re how CC looked on our data vs. others-- I can tell you without even looking that he had to be coming off a huge top followed by a backward move, on Ragozin. Same old problem they have with having California sprints too fast relative to routes-- also creates lots of incorrect situations where sprinters appear to come up bets against routers, and horses don\'t get back to tops they ran in sprints, etc. My guess is they had him coming off a 2-3 point backward move.

The horse Friedman bought and brought east that won over the weekend at Aqu looked decent on our figures, and since he was a maiden they may have bought him at an okay price. But for sure he\'ll look a lot faster on their stuff.

So what\'s next?...the object should be fitness on Derby Day...I\'d run him in the
Bluegrass and not worry about the result...get him acclimated to Kentucky and CD...when Wild Again won the BC Classic, he prepped at GGF at a mile on turf.

California Chrome has an outstanding mind...in his first dirt route, two back,
he relaxed on the backstretch as he rated kindly for Espinoza...whatever the
rider wants, that what he gives.
