One post for three topics.

California Vets are voiding claims for horses that are deemed unsound.  For instance, in Race 2 at Del Mar today, Royal Meridian\'s claim was voided on July 17th.  The horse was purchased privately thereafter, placed into a $12.5k claimer today after running for $20k claimers in her prior start.  Question:  Don\'t these same vets examine the horses prior to the race (morning of the race as at Arlington?), in the paddock prior to the race, and near the gate?  How does the horse pass inspection to race but not to be claimed?  Are there two different standards for allowing to race versus voiding a claim?  And are trainers now going to be able to use this as a weapon to drop horses to lower levels knowing the claims will be voided?

Stewards--And any thoughts on the stewards at Saratoga not looking at Rosario\'s ride in race 5 but without hesitation taking down Boyce in the Lake Placid? It\'s worth watching the headon of both races.  JJ finished third in both races but only objected in the Lake Placid.

From DRF charts which one would you have guessed was reviewed (portions omitted from early part of their races)?

Race 5:  . ARCTIC
SLOPE ......., commenced to come out leaving the
three-sixteenths
pole, leaning upon STORMING INTI with some force, then bumping
with, and finally pushing that foe outward, leading its rider
to eventually have
to steady, all occurring during the span of the next sixteenth, hooked up with
the top one in short order, got
carried out slightly for a brief period by that
foe, fought on with vigor
but got denied

Race 8:  NELLIE CASHMAN ....., eased off the inside then chased under a left-handed whip, drifted out a couple of paths near the furlong marker, was switched to a right-handed whip, took a straight course while
pursuing the leader into the final sixteenth, gained the lead shortly thereafter, drifted out under a right-handed whip late
and just held under strong urging

Longacres Mile--I\'ll go out on a limb after deep thought and study (sarcasm intended).  I\'ll take the 3 based on breeding.
