Dirty racing. Dont like it. These are horses who xan get hurt. Much less the people involved.

First move was ok...he kept the rail tight. 2nd move was BLATANT abuse. This place isnt the Rodeo.....

Reckless race riding.  Agreed.   Different point.  By my eyes the 2 wasn\'t going to win.  A pretty bad performance for a 1-5 shot.  (of course the DQ was 100% correct - but just saying thought the chalk ran pretty poor, even factoring the incident, he wasn\'t exactly flying through the hole when it opened)

Lost Cause

Think ur wrong about the 2 not winning.  I think he was moving up along the rail and was already up to about a half off when Rosario decided to play bumper cars  I think he would have won.  Had nothing on the race so no bias.
Just my opinion..

Nasty, dirty race riding.  The first move to hold the rail was good and if he stayed there it would have been a very smart ride but coming off the rail to intimidate the 5 on the outside and then realizing he was not the one he should have been worried about so going back over onto the 2 was just blatant.  Absolutely deserves to have a seat for a week..

On a different note, why is Corey Lanerie, who loves to go wide, trying to force a 2yo horse up the rail?  I know saving ground is what ur supposed to do but I don\'t remember this being Lanerie\'s style or a 2yos favorite move.

Bret Calhoun, who trains Fiftyshadesofgold, said his filly appeared to have come out of the roughly run race unharmed.

"It's very disappointing," he said. "It looked like we were coming through and going to win. Race riding is race riding, but I think [Rosario] overdid it today. He endangered a lot of riders and horses, and I hope he gets a long vacation to think about it. He's a great rider, but that was very uncalled for."

What I DON\'T want to see is Rosario getting slapped for a minimum of ten days, and he and his then proceed to appeal, endlessly -- and winds up serving said days AFTER the BC.

I actually had money on the race and needed the big favorite in my pick 4\'s (can you remember the last time a Texas bred won at Saratoga? Well, it still hasn\'t happened!), but I was worried about her rail draw b/c she is so big-I can\'t wait till she runs long though.

I don\'t see what Rosario did as blatant. He was turning his filly\'s head so she could see the horse on the rail, notice that he did that for the outside horse first earlier in the stretch when the 2 wasn\'t coming through on the rail; then when the 2 started to move, he turned his filly so she could eyeball the 2.

It got real ugly when they all started shifting and bumping and that\'s b/c they were all tired, not so much b/c of the path.

In years past that wold just be normal race riding, now a days it\'s a DQ.

Angel Cordero would have been DQ\'d about a thousand times if they followed that standard years ago.

I blame the rider on the 2-he should have just sat chilly and swung wide in the stretch. That filly is so tall putting her on the rail is the last thing he should have been thinking-she needs some space.

I think she would have won for fun, just an opinion though, hard to say for sure. I don\'t think Rosario should get days, but he probably will.

She\'s quite an interesting filly, so tall and so fast, and that\'s a rare combo--you can see the Unbridled in her that\'s for sure. Next time. Maybe going long.

Dana,

Rosario went to a right handed whip once(maybe twice)as contact was made, days almost certain, imo.Stewards very sticky about use of whip when adjudicating days or not.

Fiftyshades looked intimidated when she got into the hole and just idled in there before Rosario came in and nailed her to the fence.

Have seen no less that 10 races at the Spa, grass and dirt, where horses have been pinned inside without a seam opening up.

Yeah I know. I bet a few of them. I had a horrible meet at Saratoga so far. I caught Johnny V a few times yesterday, but the luck has been rough so far.

I agree, Rosario initiated the contact, but I don\'t think his intentions were as bad as people are saying. He was just race riding though the result sure was ugly.

I think the inside filly was intimidated. Rosario may have not needed to do anything. Fiftyshades didn\'t seem too keen on going through the hole.

Anyway, on to new handicapping challenges.

Rosario gets 7-day suspension for ride on Who\'s In Town in Adirondack. Will be reduced to 3 if he doesn\'t appeal. Decision to appeal pending

Thank you Jerry.

I saw Bailey many many years ago when he was in the same mode as Rosario probably is now (and with the same Agent I believe).....whip a first time starter Baby in the final 8th like he did Cigar at Woodbine in the Breeders Cup Classic. The horse cost a $1M got caught in the last 30 yards and never ran again.....This was unacceptable yesterday with 8YO $25K Claimers with 75 starts under their belt. Much less a couple of precocious baby\'s!!!

Dana666

They should give him three weeks for the ride on Magical Moon yesterday. I kept thinking, he\'ll rate just off the speed. She\'s shown the ability to rate, no worries. 21 first quarter, gasping for air as Chris Decarlo sails by. That was as ugly as anything he did on Sunday!

TGJB

And if you saw the head-on of today\'s 5th you know why.

He\'s gonna get somebody hurt.

Agree jb.  Until the stewards impose a meaningful suspension these guys are going to continue to ride with reckless abandon.
He has caused injury!

A high level of confidence can bring out a certain amount of cockiness in some young people. Mike Smith has been at this game for a long time and been more successful than anybody around and I dont.sense the least bit of arrogance. Rosario might be one step away from getting hurt himself if he keeps this up. If none of his fellow jocks come visit he may get the message.
