I should know this, but can anyone help me understand how I don\'t get a pik4 consolation or share when the my horse In leg 2 scratches at the gate?  Do I auto get the fav?  I have legs 1,3 4.

If so, help me then undestand how two horses share leg 1 of the pik 4.  There was no dead heat.

Shan,

In NY you get the post time favorite for any late scratch in the pick 4 or pick 6, no consolation, only in pick 3 or DD is there a conso payoff for a late scratch.

A primitive and archaic policy at best.

No one should ever be forced to bet on a horse not of their own choosing.

But, since the public puts up with it .....

shanahan

Thanks for the clarification from you both....but can anyone explain how 2 horses share the first leg?  I\'ve never seen that before in the initial leg?

miff

5 was a scratch and the favorite won.All with scratched 5 got the favorite in the first leg.

That really makes little sense.  The portion who lead with the 5 should simply be cancelled.  Miff, is it the same in NY for pik 3 and DD?

magicnight

Shanny, it makes sense once you realize that NYRA doesn\'t make any money refunding bets. You get consos on pick 3s and dds. See \"Wagering Rules\" at the attached.

Happy New Year everybody!

gracias...each track/state differs in that regard.  I appreciate the attachment.

Shan,

A scratch in the first leg of a DD or a pick 3 should be a no bet,a refund. The sole reason to keep the bet alive is purely for the NYRA takeout.Amongst many player friendly suggestions, this one was put forward.

Maybe someday \"they\" will listen and do something.
