\"Officials with Trakus recently reported the results of a study they conducted of the jockeys that rode at Del Mar over the summer meet. Based in Wakefield, Massachusetts, Trakus provides full-field in-race tracking, graphics, and data for racetracks where its technology is installed.

Pat Cummings, manager of racing information for the company, writes in his latest blog entry that of the jockeys that rode at Del Mar, those that were the most efficient were Aaron Gryder, Yuichi Fukunaga, and Kevin Krigger.

Trakus data from races at 5 1/2 and six furlongs were used for the study, which encompassed more than 1,100 starters at the just-completed season. Twenty-five jockeys were profiled, each of whom had at least 10 mounts that competed at those two distances.

"Every starter's trip, in feet traveled, is compared to the accumulated average number of feet traveled for each horse breaking from the same post position at that distance over the course of the meet" in order to determine efficiency, writes Cummings.

The Trakus information on jockeys can be helpful.
