Just came home to find a Letter Alerting me that on August 3rd Twinspires was HACKED and peoples names, Social Security #\'s, date of birth, email addresses and your mothers maiden name were stolen. Another words you are F\'ed!!!!

If it was this easy to get in there and get this I wonder about Bets???

They are providing a years worth of Identity Theft Protection, Fraud Protection, Private Investigator and Legal Services along with lost wages, notary fees and unauthorized funds transfers. I feel better already.....

P-Dub

Me too, just got my notice. Mine didn\'t say maiden name was involved.

What is cryptographically hashed social security??  If someone has these, how easy is it to figure out what the SSN is??  I don\'t feel real good about this.

I just got off the phone with Twinspires and they verified accounts were hacked.  If you received a letter in the mail then your account was affected and personal info was stolen.  My account was not affected but I\'d be very upset if it were.  Unbelievable that this happenened.

It means the social security number is obscured so it cannot be read.

P-Dub

Thanks Sight.

Wasn\'t sure if there was a way for a smart guy to figure out the numbers even though they are obscured.

A good cryptographer can decode the #\'s. They coded #\'s are not obscured from view from the inside. Someone just needs to crack the code.

P-Dub

Is there any way they can obtain access to the funds in your account??

What about the accounts linked to Twin Spires??

NO!!!

Separate file area and that file area was not penetrated. I double checked since that area includes your Bank Acct # and Routing #.

You would think TwinSpires would give at least a $50 Rebate to continue doing business with them. This Experian thing might not stop the Lawsuits!!

What\'s really crazy is CD is downplaying the event.  Should we close the accounts?  Do they have any clue what\'s at risk, do they care?

This has the fingerprints of Lisbeth Salander all over it.

Actually, if there was a real Lisbeth involved, all accounts would have been zeroed out by now.  Fortunately, I see that my $3.50 nest egg is still secure.

I haven\'t even heard from them.  Only info I got is what everyone is posting.

If you didnt\'t receive a notification, then your account is safe.  Twinspires really doesn\'t care, my opinion after getting off the phone with them.

Time to move to a new wagering account. They continously shut down on Derby Day. The year Big Brown won the Derby, I carefully crafted my trifecta and superfecta wagers for optimum return and nailed both big time. My profit was 0 dollars! The website locked up and I had made the mistake of not having another way to wager since I was out of town. I heard they locked up again this year and now this. The next time I deal with Twinspires will be at the Kentucky Derby in person. Twinspires will be in my pictures and thats it. Good luck to all who stay. They aren\'t the only game in town.

Twinspires is too busy sending out press releases about a bettor who supposedly selected a 500k pick 6 by betting on his favorite names. Maybe if all you guys can prove that you don\'t actually take the handicapping process seriously and you are \'hat pin joe\' and pick your numbers thru telekinesis, they might take you more seriously.
