Any chance of getting that card up tonight?

MonmouthGuy

I thought it was interesting that Johnny V asked off THAS to ride Rattlesnake Bridge.

I was puzzled over the same thing, Monmouth Guy.  I wonder if it\'s because Lezcano can do 114 and Velazquez can\'t (?).  If so, maybe it was Mott\'s call.

Can\'t see it being because of the weight..Talent difference betweeen JV and Lezcano too big to justify for that reason..It has to be something else.

Right...don\'t overthink this one...Rattlesnake is battleproven.  THAS not.  He\'s a hothouse horse.

The Remsen winner isn\'t proven but the Long Brach winner is proven?

I\'d go with the best swimmer tomorrow as the area is currently being deluged with rain.

Strange comment.  I didn\'t say THAS wasn\'t proven.  He\'s a proven G2 winner.  Arguably Rattlesnake\'s game second in the G1 Travers may mean a bit more.  Moreover, he\'s a horse that\'s improved gradually every start and may go forward again...THAS is a horse that flopped in G1 company and ran a big race against common stock his last out.

I have tremendous respect for Bill Mott, but I\'ve seen this from him before...major potential bounce off a horse\'s big number.  Every now and then he cranks one too hard...maybe not this time, but Velazquez made a big choice here and I would rather bet with him than against him.

In fact with Breen and Dutrow in here, I\'ll bet THAS doesn\'t hit the board.  If they try to run with Dutrow he\'ll fold.  If they let Dutrow go unchallenged they won\'t catch him.

\"Right...don\'t overthink this one...Rattlesnake is battleproven. THAS not. He\'s a hothouse horse.\"

Alm, it\'s not a big deal and I don\'t want to get into a big back and forth but here\'s the quote of your original post and then in your response to me, you said \"I didn\'t say THAS wasn\'t proven\"

unless there\'s a big difference between \"battleproven\" and \"proven\" that I am not aware of?

I thought very highly of THAS earlier this year.  I am not sure what went wrong with him in the spring but his last figure seems to suggest he\'s back to his top form and that\'s good enough to beat these in my opinion.

Pretty ironic that if THAS wins today, Mott has the top 3 year old filly and (arguably) the second best 3 year old colt in training.

good luck to everyone

The wagering menu at Parx is mystifying ?
The pick 4 is on races 5-8 not including the stakes or the typical last 4 races.

So will take a little wet track stab on the pick 3 races 9-11 on the anti McLaughlin angle. Rattlesnake Bridge will be over bet, can certainly regress and his constant wide trips won\'t help on this track. Those Wer The Days in the 9th will be completely over bet and Johnnny V. on both will encompass 85 % of the pick 3 tickets.

9th:  Keep Me Informed - stretching out, wet track pedigree, inside and some numbers to run back to.
Voodoo Storm - 1st dirt, bred for wet, sent up to train at The Spa after the meet ? Nice dirt moves on Belmont training track in August.

10th: Can\'t argue with the ROW choice to run back to a winning number and a little value.

11th: THAS - back on track and down the road.

Good luck,

Frank D.

Looks like they won\'t get any rain there today.

Can Lezcano and Cornelio make 114?

I like THAS over JW Blue.

Frank D,

fyi,don\'t know how Parx will play today but wide trips are often the best trips there. Parx the \"home\"of phony wide fast TG figs, when the rail is dead, which is fairly often.

good luck

I second this.Go look through the charts. You can pick just about any day and you will see a lot of winners with VERY WIDE in their comment line. The jocks that regularly ride at Parx take their mounts immediately off the rail if they can.On those same charts you will also see a ton of INSIDE,TIRED comments.
I saw Ruler On Ice as the main foe to Rattlesnake Bridge and with him going to have to find a way off the rail without having much early speed in him is going to be tough.THAS\'s problem to me is that he doesn\'t rate well and Dutrow has stated Rush Now is gunning from the start.Everything about this race points to RB to me but I think he will be bet also so don\'t know how much interest I have in betting.

Wrongly

McLaughlin is also deadly with the 2nd off the layoff angle.  Just think he might have to catch Rush Now.
