Would it not be a good idea, to have the actual weight of the horse in the past performances, like they do for the dogs? You could then see, which horses filled out from there two year old season to three and so on. You could quickly tell which horses have been sick because of the layoff, and which ones didn\'t recover after a hard race. They do loose considerable weight after a race or series of races. Why has there never been a push to get this important information out. All the trainers weigh there horses anyway, and they can weigh the horses prior to the races at a specified time. So what could be the hold-up for not providing this information.

Very few trainers weigh their horses, because big scales are not readily available. It would indeed be useful if that info was published, not just for the reasons you cite, but because the weight correction we use is a rough estimate based on the average size horse-- it doesn\'t make that much of a difference in most cases, but we could get it tighter if we knew whether the horse in question weighed 850 or 1100 pounds.
