Apologies if we have covered this here before but I don\'t remember it.

Z spotted 9 pds to St T.

Is 9pds the same for all horses?

Z weighs several hundred pounds more than St. T to begin with so what is 9 more pounds?

Said another way, carrying an extra 9 pounds should theoretically be a bigger negative for St. T than for Z, no?

This is in no way, shape or form intended to diminish anything that Z is doing.  I love her and find her amazing.

Rather, this is an attempt to think about whether I should discount weight assignments on huge horses (fillies or colts) in the future.

Thoughts?  And again I apologize if this has been discussed before.

5 pounds = 1 point is an average. We could fine tune it if they gave us the weights of the horses, but they don\'t.

so it\'s theorectically ok for me to make some of my own adjustments when I know there\'s a very significant discrepency in the size of the horses?

Z is one of the biggest mares to hit the racetrack in a long time.  Her size and weight could be one of the main reasons that she always looks vulnerable on TG weight adjusted figures yet she never looses.

Maybe 5 pds = 1 point for the average horse but for a horse than weighs 30% more than the average horse, there\'s not as much impact.

I know it\'s a slippery slope but I am just saying in theory, there\'s no issue with my thought process here?

I don\'t know about this correlation between Zenyatta\'s size and her ability/speed.

I keep gaining weight and it isn\'t making me any faster..........

Jimbo, an absolute classic.

In my case, I just wish it were as cool for me to be 30% above average weight as it is for Z!
