Quote from: .On Saturday, the strapping chestnut was loping along under exercise rider Arielle Witkowski when he veered to the outside, coming within inches of hitting Kentucky Oaks contender Beautician before ducking off the racetrack gap just past the six-furlong pole.

Head outrider Greg Blasi and his pony quickly got Dublin back on track, and the colt behaved until heading into the second turn. Dublin again veered toward the outside, actually turning 360 degrees to where his behind was hard against the rail before Witkowski got him righted. Dublin continued his jaunt without further incident.

Trainer D.Wayne Lukas — who after training generations of Storm Cat progeny takes such antics in stride — said Dublin was reacting to the human runners in the track infield, which was part of Saturday\'s Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and miniMarathon course.

"When they came out of that (infield) tunnel, about 5,000 of them cheering, he was like 'whoa,\'" Lukas said.

Told that was the miniMarathon, Lukas said, "Mini? It didn\'t look mini to me. My comment on that was, you\'d think this race after 136 years would stand on its own. I\'m not against marathons, but why run them right through the training facility? We\'ve got millions of dollars worth of horses. All the horses were watching that pretty close.

"Of course the argument is that (Derby Day) there are 140,000 people. But they\'re not in a situation where they see it for the first time (out of the blue). But anyhow, it was fine."

While the event\'s runners have gone through the Downs infield for years, it was a new experience for Lukas. With very few exceptions, his Derby horses have worked in the dark at 6a.m., when the track first opens for training.

Give me a post as far away as possible.  Along with absolutely no heart and racing courage, this horse is also a nutcase.   LOL at D.Wayne being totally clueless as usual.

Dublin will absolutely not be on my underneaths.  He\'ll have as much nervous sweat pouring off him as Pletcher when they announce the drug testing results.
