Where do I order one of the TG hats in a size 3?

I didn\'t notice if anyone else commented on Awesome Act\'s workout yesterday, but here goes.

According to BRIS he worked 6 furlongs in 112.6 in fractions of: 12.6,12.4,11.8,11.8,13.4 and 10.6.

Maybe this is inaccurate?  If not, it was a very strange workout.  Does anyone have any better information on it?

Our guys don\'t need them that small so we don\'t stock them. Try Ragozin.

So you\'re saying there are a lot of big heads in here?  Man, I\'m shocked.

Solid post as usual MJ.  Judging a work by its time, is like judging a book by its cover.

As an example, when many of Pletchers horses worked Saturday at PM, there were 14 five furlong works and all went between 101 and change and 102 and change.  Yet they were pleased with some (the filly) and disappointed with others (Rule).

I know you are holding a future ticket on the big horse and would be interested in how you play the race with Esky somewhere between 5-2 with a good draw and 5-1 drawing inside, but can wait.

What is interesting to me is what does Pletcher do with ESKY Saturday?  Near as I can tell the only knock might be that he did not get anything out of his last two races, when smoking inferior.  TAP who has the luxury of having the best stocked barn in history year after year has plenty of options.  I would expect six furlongs yet TAP seldom has them go that long and if he only goes five then it would be a stiffer work in company. What do you think? Good luck. bbb

Bell,

There is no post that Esky could draw to go off 5-1.Doubt he\'ll be 5-2 either if no knocks between now and derby.

He wouldn\'t be 5-1 if he had to run around twice.

sekrah

65% 2-1
30% 5/2
4%, 3-1 (poor post AND a knock)
1%, 9/5 (if any of of the next 5 on the board get scratched).

My guess is he gives ESK another 5F workout.  That\'s been his routine up to this point, it\'s been working pretty good and I don\'t think Pletcher will try to get creative and break it.

I myself would like to see a sharper 4F breeze in 46 and change with a strong double gallop out.  I think he should at least put ESK on edge and sharpen his speed for this because I think getting a good forward stalking position is going to be crucial, and with the pace in the race if he goes the 1/2 in 49 he\'s going to find himself pretty far behind.  The horse has had two 1 1/8th races and has come home fast in both, so he has to be dead fit.  Because of that I wouldn\'t think a long, slow workout would be the way to go.  But what the hell do I know.

Dunno how I\'m going to bet it yet.  If ESK works and draws well I think you have to make him 50/50 to win the race.  Depends on a few things.  Future bet is nice but I sold half of it.  The KY Derby is usually more of an ego bet for me to be totally honest.  It\'s often not the best betting race because there are a lot of unknowns.  But the pools are huge and there\'s a chance to make a good score.  There\'s also nothing like pulling down 6 figures on the biggest horse race of the year.  So I usually take some sort of all or nothing swing and either win big and go home drunk and happy or lose $5k and just go home drunk.  The budget this year is set at $7500 because I have an opportunity to hedge.

I may bet more on the Oaks.

Esky\'s final 5f in his last 2 races are a full two seconds faster than the competition. Scary fast.

My guy got AA going 13.03, 25.12, 36.85, 48.67, 100.38, 113.07 out 7F in about 127 flat.  Was given some light nudging of the hands in the stretch to give him his cue to get going but more or less did the work without any urging.  Solid work.

..and there it is. If I had to pick 1 and only 1 angle, this it. Especially in a race with a ton of speed. Decent works and decent PP and he\'s the key on the majority of tickets.

Uncle Buck

Anyone know if this year\'s Derby works are logged online somewhere for viewing? If you have a link, please post. Thanks!

If you get a chance, check out AA in the Breeders Cup Juv Turf.It is available on the BC web site.
It was a slow pace race on a course that was very kind to speed. He was widest of all and finished his last quarter in 22.45. Visually very impressive,TG figure of 6.

Agree with your assessment of AAs performance in that race, just not sure how it translates to a Kentucky Derby that will have a fast pace and be run on dirt.
