... that the iPad looks like it would be a pretty hot item for the 21st century handicapper. Accessing your online data, reading sheets and pps, betting at your online account, watching replays, playing sad songs when your horse runs out. And, at 1.5 pounds, that\'s what? About 1 point at 10 furlongs?

this is a riot, I doubled over laughing on the point about the 1 pt at 10 furlongs, love it.

Thanks, Jim, but I screwed up. It\'s only about a quarter-point at 10F, right? Which means, you can tote it back and forth between the Carolina BBQ and the paddock all day and still have plenty left to beat JB to Siro\'s after the last.

There have been Tablet PCs on the market for years. Why are people just noticing?

cause steve jobs said so

NYC\'s reply is certainly a large part of the answer, but I\'d also suggest that much of the buzz is generated by magazines and newspapers, which are desperate for some scalable gizmo to save them from the barren landscape they foresee in a world dominated by the dreaded smartphone. And that coincides with all the recent hubbub about \"free\" versus \"paid\" online content, so, an easy dovetail. Now, can you charge for subscriptions and ads just because something looks like a magazine?  I suspect the jury is out on that one a while longer.

There were cell phones on the market for decades when the iPhone came out.

If you make it better it gets noticed.
