miff, I\'ve done my own work analyzing the exacta pools for 30 years.

 I don\'t dispute any of your observations, and have seen evidence of same in my own computer analysis.

 I would question the ease of eliminating 2 or 3 horses in a 10 horse field.  Throwing out longshots is worth very little and is certainly not foolproof.

 Throwing out chalk requires great skill to do consistently without getting burned.

 So unless they are getting information that is \'proprietary\' on who to leave out, it still boils down to skill.

  Of course the rebate makes this approach a lot more feasible than it would otherwise be.
