Kudos to the TG handicapper that selected both Concorde Escapade and Star Chief on Saturday's AQU card.

I\'d be most interested in hearing the logic behind those two selections.  Concorde I could kind of make a case for off the layoff though I was afraid the 6 was a knockout top.  I should have listened to Uncle Mall on this one, he loved her.  Star Chief was even harder for me to make.  I thought the paired 2s were jump up drug numbers (note the comment "disqualified from purse money" after the 8/23 running line).  His last three weren't very good and I couldn't come up with a reason for him to get back to the 2 (though I really tried).

Again congratulations on two courageous selections that scored at boxcar mutuels.

We have our days, thanks. I hope people made some money.

Briefly--Race 5--
MR--Solid, ran fast early in the year, maybe tailing off but could pop.
CR--Started with decent pair, then 02X\'d and came back slightly. Laid off for good, but not too well known, layoff trainer. Lightly raced, inside post and 10-1ML.
L-Lightly raced, reacted to each effort this year, took a while to get back to top which came 2 weeks ago. In light but likely bounce--almost won! Wrong about that one.
WP--Got back to top 2 back, but top induced bad bounce. Ouch.
LP--Had to improve for bad layoff trainer.
A--Slow, not a sprinter.
RM--Slow, outside.
GW--Slow, plenty of tries. Bad favorite.
AW--Slow, off a top.
GYGO--Slow, bad bounce off top.
At the ML, not difficult to pick.

Race 7--
SC--2nd fastest going in, rail, light weight. Started moving forward again in last, after reacting tops 10 weeks ago. ML 10-1.
SUSA--Tough cypher, ultimately 2-1/2 pts slower and giving almost 1 pt to top one. Also 3-1, no value.
K-good pattern, but slow.
MJ--reacts to tops and off a new one, long in coming. Bounce most likely.
HC--High weight giving 8 lbs, and 2 pts slower. Good pattern but off a top. 5-2, no value.
MAB--In light, fastest, but only 1 good figure after many tries. Slight layoff for 0 for trainer in this spot.
V--Bad bounce last out, 1 good figure.
Star Chief was the obvious value, in a competitive race.

I look for value plays but they don\'t always run the way you surmise. These two did.
