Noticed one trait of Eight Belles from the very beginning and wonder if there was any connection between it and the end. She carried her head high and a little to the right, almost as if she was eyeballing the track with her left eye. I\'m not sure why she did that. She did have a tendency to bear in, not just once, she had done it several times. Was there something going on? Did Jones miss something? Perhaps we\'ll see, supposedly they did an autopsy.

However, regardless of statistics, I categorically reject the notion that a racehorse can\'t run on 25 days spacing without risking fatal breakdown. Horses did precisely that for over a century and as Big Brown amply demonstrated, horses are individuals, not statistical trends.

Eight Belles had the best foundation and she didn\'t finish second in spite of that foundation. She finished second because of it.

from watching replays of her prep races last week and watching the derby ,though haven\'t seen that replay and don\'t need too . eight belles seemed to me a very spirited horse and her action was almost borderline rank imo . i didn\'t feel eight belles was over her head with this group and if anything it was the colts who would have their hands full . i believe eight belles had excellent and perhaps even superior ability to match with the colts in the derby  .
