The pace of the race

Curlin really got screwed by the draw. The horse inside him will out run Curlin to the first turn.

Hard Spun has a huge advantage here if Pino can get him out of the gate in good order. He has only Stormello to worry about (pacewise) and HS can either outrun or lay 2nd to Stormello as far as they go.

Scat Daddy should be in a great stalking position laying 3rd or 4th.

I have a feeling Calvin will be going for the rail based on comments regarding his most recent work. Hmmmmmm. I wonder what a SS, SD, HS tri box would pay?

Ill-bred

I predict a reasonable pace this year.

I also have a suspicion that Liquidity may be in this race for multiple reasons, including that a well-timed, mid-race move to turn up the pressure on the front end would help Great Hunter.

Any chance Leparoux pulls a Gryder on the rail to assist stablemate and sprints to the lead here? Not sure he has the speed but why wouldn\'t they try?

I don\'t think Leparoux has much of a choice. He needs to send his horse a little to try and get position. I don\'t think he is in here as a rabbit, but if you\'re breaking from the one hole you either send your horse or find yourself in last going into the first turn. I don\'t think there is a whole lot of speed in here if they try to rate Stormello. If they rate Stormello, I\'d see Teufelsberg going to the lead with Hard Spun to his inside with Sedgefield right behind them.
