If once again I might seek counsel from the \"knowlegables\" of the racing community....

In the feature at Delmar today the talent level would seem to create a favorable betting environment for a quick hit by Pinata\'s trainer once again as Mrs Miller\'s kid has again chosen the perfect race to be 4-8 lbs lighter than the competition with a first time turf starter off a claim with a nice layoff and several nice bullets.

Competitors with names and reputations such as....

Carthage will also be there to attract play as a first time turf on the rail off a poor start 17 days previously.

Other horses of interest would be turf experienced Railroad also off a subpar effort and 3 rd race in a month.

Osidy and Head of the House are also top notch well placed but in one of the best features on a week day of the Meet I like Fast Parade to again make Miller our man once again.....at a very nice price of course.

Contrarian views out there people????

P.S.

On another note isn\'t it sad that P Val seems to be in dire straits with the California Racing Commision once again per Equidaily yesterday.  When a racing commision is asking a jockey who has passed every drug test given is then asked to donate a hair sample for additional inspection is it not time to ask whether we are going just a bit too far persecuting ....I mean prosecutuing this jockey.

I knew as soon as the \"neck\" issue became public and the likelihood of P Val needing legitimate physician perscribed analgesics for a medical condition came into the picture that the \"Bonds Effect\" would come in to play.  Namely just because the guy isn\'t winning any popularity contests with other jockeys and racing stewards doesn\'t mean he should get treated like a dirty junkie because he needs medication.......DrDave

The guy who does the figs for TG and crew always gets the 1st and last word for me so far as I\'m concerned - not that I don\'t have a different view at times - ( ie: if I feel a horse is strong to break down or have a physical problem during the running of a race based on pattern and at 3-5 ML , I don\'t care who agree\'s w / me or not ... I\'ve had good teachers  ) . Your Betting you own money - you\'ve got to make the decision how .

I can see what you like about FS : good roi\'s for trainer angles + fair Sire profile for today , saves ground w/ an inside trip , gd price and ok TG number\'s . With that said - on the down side , 4 months off is a little more than a freshening and is of some question to me .

Bonfante on the other hand has a degree of established form - is off a possible  near 02X and albiet as a 5 yo , should still run well today  , a vg+ sire profile  that is 4 pts faster on the sod than dirt + his turf TGI is considerably faster than FS\'s . Now that you\'ve mentioned FS however , I\'m going to have to throw him the box w / Bonfante too ...

Does this reply go with this post of mine or did I actually stir no interest from anyone despite identifying a winning 5-1 bet down from OL 12-1 who made me some nice coin with the win, exacta and wheeled tri....

I am sure my next 20 posts will be poison since I was lucky on the only two I have ever put on this board....

Thank you Mrs Millers son once again....

DrDave

I cant believe no one wanted to comment on the PVal issues either.....oh well just shows how little I know about what people are interested in...

Nice pick. Chart shows Fast Parade won it quite nicely.

Nice call and congradulations on the Dmr race . Sorry for the confusion ,  The 3-5 reference was not related to FS ( or the Sar race ) and it was an attempt at making a general  comment on being  \"opinionated\",  and I suppose that we all have our relative comfort zones when handicapping . However, and this is not intended at you DD or anybody specifically but if one took from my post that I belived FS was going to break down yesterday it would be quite a remarkable stretch to make that case or attribute my comments as such  . People who Know me have little doubt that if I felt a horse was going to breakdown or have a physical problem based on numbers , pattern etc ,  I would certainly say so in no uncertain terms .
I didn\'t feel FS was in any kind trouble phyically going into that race - my only concern was that the horse might need a race . Many times they return as fast or faster than they were prior to a lay off and there were No numbers that indicated deterioration .
I suppose the intention of the 3-5 comment actually was in a round about way of saying - go for it . People will have very strong opinions for various reasons but Very rarely is there only one way to look at a race ...

Well done.

If I see Del Mar in a post, I tend to tune out. I am no longer able to follow racing on more than one circuit at my advanced age. As for Mr. Miller, it appears that life goes on after Mattress Mac.

PVal-- whats to talk about? Yes its a shame. But the words \"benefit of the doubt\" or \"presumption of innocence\" do not have meaning when you are a habitual offender.

Nice pick Dr. Dave, I had read your post yesterday morning but since I usually do not play Del Mar it slipped my mind to follow your advice.

I\'m more of a lurker here than a poster, mainly because the DRF is my primary source for wagering information.  Trying to incorporate the TGs more though as I see my colleagues at the simulcast outlet doing well with them.

One angle that I\'ve picked up on from here, that seems to work especially well with young horses, is the \"pairing up\" after only two races.  Octave had ran two mid 70 Beyers going into yesterday\'s Adirondack, I assumed the numbers would be similar on the TG sheets and a big move forward might be expected, so I keyed her with the logical contenders.  My tickets went from winners to losers when the Kelly Breen (another name that\'s been mentioned here more than once) shipper came storming down the middle of the track to catch Magical Ride.

I continue to be a handicapper in progress!
