Hey Jerry

Common now we got El Duke\' now. He pitched a 9 inning Gem last night. I agree I wish they had one more Starter, and I think the Kid Pelfry is very good. I hope they bring him up. Saw him down in Port St. Lucie. Really nice kid, he took picture with my son and all.

I think the Bullpen is ok. I didn\'t know there were other Mets fans on this Board. Hell Im watching every game on the dish.

Good Luck tomorrow.

Please no pitching injury talk.  My A\'s have had enough already,  don\'t get me started with Harden.

NCT,

I think EL Duke\' is older than me(I\'m 58). If Wagner doesn\'t become lights out soon,I\'m afraid its lights out for the amazins.

Jerry,

Have you seen enough to feel confident in that 1 you gave Bushfire two back.Remember you were much faster than Rags(8) and Andy 91(a TG 4 translated)

Thanks,
Mike

Miff-- I\'m taking off, Alan will post the race later tonight, I\'ve had no reason to doubt the figure, which only featured one new top (Bushfire) by memory. Frankly, I\'m more inclined to review the Oaks, which could have been a couple of points better. We\'ll see what they come back and do.

I hear you Richie, and figured as much.

If he would stick to talking about races sensibly, and stop with the nonsense he would be one of the better posters around here. At times,  he has some excellent things to say.

Thanks Tony.

Must be a form cycle thing. Probably the best post I ever put on this Board occurred on Friday before the Belmont two years ago. Too bad we don\'t have that same type of suspense going this year. Of course if your alive in the Pick 6 or with a nice Pick Four going you might be thinking differently.

Good Luck tomorrow.

The Great Ones Elevate Their Performance

On the biggest Stages, at the highest Stakes

They are able to summon something extra and by shear will, produce wonders.

You remember the images, you certainly haven't forgotten the names. Jordan, Montana and Rice, Reggie and the Yankees, Tiger, Jack, Borg, Seattle Slew, Affirmed and of course Secretariat. Others may have had as much talent, better bat speed, forty time or some of something else. But the desire, the will to win, is what separated them from the rest. People don't get the nickname Mr. October by being afraid to take hold of the bat, by not demanding, "I Want The Ball."

At some point Smarty Jones is going to be tested and one has to wonder if the rigors of the Triple Crown haven't taken a brutal toll. No one hands you a World Championship Trophy, a Championship Ring, Champions have to earn them. As others have pointed out the modest work turned in by Smarty Jones the other day may or may not be an indicator that the grueling campaign has emptied the tank. Those others mentioned above were never fearful to dig down deep and summon up a little something extra knowing the hopes and dreams of a Team, an entire Town and in some cases nearly a whole Country were RESTING ON THEIR BACKS.

To properly earn his spot in history, to step onto the pedestal of the greatest of all Champions, Smarty Jones will probably have to meet all challengers and defeat them one by one. The difference between Winning and Losing probably will not come down to Speed Figures or Pattern Reads, but that most immeasurable of intangibles that separates The Great Ones from the Rest.

I voted for him the first go round too. When politicians look you in the eye, promise change and tell why certain things were done you tend to believe them. Things did change, but they were in polarity to the words that came out of the oil weasel\'s mouth. Granted they weren\'t his words, but this guy has taken fraud prepetrated against the electorate to an unprecedented level.

Plus though arrogant, condescending and attention deprived CtC is a handicapper of uncanny insight and occasionally demonstrates it.

Responding to the substantive part of your post, not sure I have ever lost betting against Lost in the Fog. Passed on the Aristrides when Yes, Yes, Yes scratched. Might have passed with that one in. The field was soft. Don\'t think Kelly\'s Landing got nearly back. Cashed the Swale, keying Foggy with Around the Cape in second. Think that was the race Santana Strings was second choice.

May have lost the Riva Ridge with Egghead second. Keep records of winning bets and wagered amounts but not individual horses lost to. Certainly didn\'t cash that race and Can\'t remember. Was high on Egghead. If I did lose a race against Foggy, it was probably just one and in all likelihood the Riva Ridge. Usually I remember the horses that beat me. Like Point Given and Ghostzapper. They both beat me multiple times.

The White Sox are a good team to back.

Now lets get about this Belmont.
