So bottom line, if you did the right kind of study over a large sampling, it would be indicative. The one Jimbo proposed-- based on an idea I had put forward-- was to take the last 3 of each horse, throw out the worst one, and average the other two. That would give a general picture of how fast each horse is. There are lots of ways you could then do the study (there are some statistics guys out there, I\'m sure they have ideas), and we all might learn something. Like whether a \"right\' figure is right.

jerry, you have the database and staff, why not run a study to get a baseline win % and baseline r.o.i?

then you can challenge ragozin to do the same?

i will tell you that the odds are that the r.o.i. will show a loss, but thats nothing to be afraid of.

HR-- I guess you could do an ROI by taking the top figure horse in each race, but what would a good score be, and there\'s no way Ragozin would do it no matter what, and who would be auditing both our studies even if they did...

The right way is to have an ongoing study, and there are lots of other ways you could cut it up. Like, place the horses in each race in order based on the figure they get by that formula. Then take the winner of the race, and see who ranked him higher. Etc., etc...

hi jerry, in my opinion this IS very simple, obviously your company has to present the study in the best light. but its been years since anyone has done anything. i\'m sure if you did a computer anaylsis whether on straight bets or even using your thoro-patterns this would be a great marketing coup since the sheets will probably never respond.

but in all honesty it must be said that there is no handicapping software or method that can beat the track take and there never has been, there has only been skilled investors who can put together exotic wagers or grind out a living WITH A REBATE.

my point is that thoro-graph is another super-bullet in the holster for a skilled gambler. i just want to know in a SCIENTIFIC way how much it helps.

my honest heart-felt opinion is that neither service wants to do a study because they would be afraid of the results. you vs len proves nothing, but i would like to know how it stands up under analysis.

HR-- but what\'s a good score? Remember, we\'re not talking about a study that uses the data most efficiently-- just one that gives a RELATIVE sense of usefulness.

And again, since it wouldn\'t be audited, who would believe it?
