This is a response to a post CH made on the Ragboard, so if that poster or that venue do not hold any interest for you, stop reading.

Let me start by saying that CH has become more than a poster at Ragboard, he has become a topic. Many posters at RB have become disgusted with CH\'s frequent and sometimes self contradictory posts. To their credit, Indulto and Ms. Joplin have come out on the side of free speech and allowing CH to continue, although I believe they have a slightly selfish interest in the comic fodder that CH sometimes inadvertently supplies.

The reason that I am not responding to CH \"over there\" is because the event he describes occurred on the TG Board.

CH said on the RagBoard:

\"I think (Paragallo) got treated better than Barry Irwin. When Barry showed   up he gave them a winner and they still ran him out of town for non- preferred views\"

Yes he gave us a winner at the Spa ($7.40). But he also gave us a hypocritical line of BS regarding his \"zero tolerance\" stance on performance enhancing drugs. Mr. Irwin seemed to be saying that he believed in zero tolerance so long as Mr. Irwin could determine the value of \"zero\".

CH seems to say that when an Ernie Paragallo or a Barry Irwin appears on a bulletin board such as this they should be treated with deference. I thought that the response of TG posters to Mr. Irwin showed that horseplayers are not, as a certain California trainer might characterize us, \"idiots\" or \"assholes\".

Richie: A couple of quick points.

It now appears that our friend CH has alienated both the Hatfields and McCoys.  That\'s a unique feat, but he\'s worked hard to achieve it so let\'s let him enjoy it.  The post you mention is too inane to address further.

I don\'t understand the few favorable comments made on this board about Ernie Paragallo\'s posts in the last few weeks.  Those posts consist of derogatory attacks on one of his ex-employees (posted anonymously, no less), and information about the condition of one of his horses that he posted after a race.  What\'s praiseworthy about any of that?  I\'m sure he has worthwhile stuff to add about racing, training, etc. but there was nothing valuable in those posts -- far from it.

I thought Ernie had a right to be miffed with all the allegations and aspersions. (I\'m using big words, drinking Polish Beer and my god is it strong.) The comment about degenerate gamblers kinda irked me. If he knew how carefully I and many others place wagers there's no way he could call me degenerate or a gambler. Nevertheless, what he does is at least as big a risk as what I do and probably more so. I like the guy. He\'s the guy that bred/pinhooked Unbridled\'s Song and when Seguchi of FuPig fame backed out of the deal, he raced him himself. That takes cojones. He\'s got a good horse now. That horse is a little lightly bred in my estimation, but you never know. Good luck to him.

P.S. I meant to say I have a good deal of respect for CH too. Class doesn\'t matter to me as much as pace and he\'s got some very sound ideas in that regard even if he sometimes writes with less that ideal clarity.

Later, I see that Strong Contender is gonna miss the Lane\'s End over lack of earnings. That Derby third start thing gets pretty dicey when theres about 10,000 horses chasing the Holy Grail and accrueing Graded Stakes earnings when you\'re two race schedule is designed to get you their fresh...lol

Slackers. Be men, be horsemen.

Had to laugh at Ernies comment about Keeneland that you could put a Billy Goat on the lead at Keeneland and win. Wonder if they have bothered to mow the Turf Course since last fall.

Regarding the 10,000 horses on the trail you have been reading too many media reviews who want to make you believe there are 10,000 horses with a chance to win.

D Wayne you stay on that Derby Trail right to the bitter end. That maiden you are running in the Rushaway was your get out horse in the last on Big Cap Day.

I know because he was mine too.

ernie is still all class, isn\'t he?  It\'s all about the perception, and you\'ll just never get it, E...Arkansas Derby?  Well, there\'s a few of us here who won\'t be fooled when you ship in, hope you get here healthy - without bad back , leg, whatever it is by then....

Ctc,

Oh Chuckles....we disected that two race three race thing a lot last week. There are many converts to the two race prep thing. I promise I will look at all horses entered 2 or 3 preps and bet on the individual circumstances.

Anyway lets face it, for the derby itself 3 preps seems logical for the added distance and conditioning it will take to win @ 10F, as each is doing it for the first time.

Anyway, I too think that AOT is a little light on the breeding and has not beaten anything of real quality so far, all on the inner tube, but Ernie has been a major conrtibutor and risk taker in the moder era. Hell he even employed Jennifer Hat Rack.

Good luck to you Ernie, do right by this horse.

SC-

Please - No dissing Keeneland now please. I was at the track last Sunday and the turf was in pristine condition, and mowed. Hell they had a herd of cattle out on the course eating all day, so as to not be touched by machine.

Paranecks record at Kee over the past few years both meets has not been too good. Maybe it was Jennifer, maybe it was the NY Inner tube stock he is running. With that in mind you would think he\'d have a speed horse or two to beat a goat every now and then. Cause as we all know the Inner tube is also a conveyor belt in recent years in it\'s own right.

you hit it right on the head, Richie...and good follow caradoc.  could not agree more - hoping a guy like JBailey in his new role calls some out on TV.  If anyone would, it\'s him.  Racing can\'t be cleaned up if the leaders don\'t call people out.  Most posters here care.

Dear Peter,

As a person who made favorable comments about Mr. Paragallo\'s posting, allow me to explain myself. I did not mean to suggest that Mr. Paragallo was a nice man or that is posts were polite or thoughtful.  I was merely pointing out that he was giving us information where we had none.  He did not have to come here and do that; he voluntarily (perhaps for his own targeted purposes -- even attempting to burnish his own reputation) came here and gave us information of interest that we could not get anywhere else. I was thanking him for stepping up and providing that information even if it was belatedly.  I still think we are better informed as a result of his posts than we would have been without them.

Best,
