Apparently, Golden Man running on consecutive days is really no big deal.

According to Bill Finley at ESPN.com, King Leatherbury once ran a horse at Laurel in the afternoon and Penn National that night. Kind of like taking in 9 races during the day and stumbling out of a bar on Caroline Street after last call.

Michael D made a good point about the rock hard turf courses at Belmont. It will be interesting to see how protective they are of the courses in the fall in anticipation of BC in October. I was not overly impressed with the Godolphin horse in the 7th race... they set him up with very fast fractions and opened up the rail for him to boot.

As to any questions about whether the track was scraped at Calder\'s Summit of Speed, look at the photos in The Blood Horse of July 16, pages 4010 and 4011. The pictures show WUD and LITF winning their races; under the inside rail you can see what looks to be a foot tall pile of track surface.

Buckle up guys, the best 3 months of racing begins on Wednesday. This is our payoff for enduring the four maiden race a day cards on the Inner Dirt in January and the Calder at Gulfstream weekday cards at Magna\'s retail/entertainment/ racing center.
