First off, thats Traver\'s Day, guess Nick doesn\'t think he can bring him back running. Quote Nick:

\"I know it\'s a tough race, but Bellamy Road, when he\'s right he can run with any horse, so that\'s what I\'m going to do,\" Zito said Saturday from Saratoga. \"I talked to the Steinbrenner family and they said, \'Whatever you want to do,\' and that\'s what I want to do.\"

He\'s got a fair turn of foot, but poor pace figure or no poor pace figure from the Summit of Speed theres no way in hell he\'s gonna outfoot Lost in the Fog early. This must be the Commentator strategy. Run them short, get their confidence up and then try and stretch them out.

\"The Travers is a stretch, a mile and a quarter - we couldn\'t do it,\" Zito said. \"We know the [King\'s Bishop] is going to go. I would have loved to have brought him back at a mile, but the timing is good. I know he\'ll be ready by then.\"

Anyone else of the opinion Zito has misjudged this horses quick foot ability...lol

Oh well, Zito wouldn\'t be the first that has been way off base on this horse. Others have been dramatically wrong about him as well. Dramatically.

Have some serious races today and then a whole meet at the Spa so this is the last post for awhile. Good luck.

CTC,

Given the typical King\'s Bishop field, I wouldn\'t be totally shocked if there\'s someone entered in there that is quicker than LITF, let alone BR. However, I don\'t see any evidence that BR doesn\'t have enough speed to sit just off the pace and close. Many speed routers show the ability to rate a bit in sprints and still close.

I think it will make for an interesting race.

On the plus side, I think you can make a very good case that BR is a much better horse (at least off the Wood). Personlly, I didn\'t think his Derby was too shabby either despite the disappointing finish (very rough trip). On the flip side, that\'s a really tough spot to come back off a layoff.

If you have an opinion, the race is now bettable.

Clown,

I hope you stick to your promise about \"last post for a while\"....

Why do you interpret this move as \"Nick doesn\'t think he can bring him back running\"?

That is ridiculous (again).

The Kings Bishop is no soft spot, running against Lost in the Fog and Roman Ruler (especially the former).  Depending what happens betweeen now and then, the Kings Bishop may be a tougher spot than the Travers.  We know that Afleet Alex will be in the Travers probably, but who else exactly is scary that is pointing for that race?

Bellamy at 10 furlongs is certainly questionable, as you have often harped on.  But Bellamy rating off the pace in a sprint against the best 3 year old sprinter in recent times, off the layoff, is certainly questionable and maybe more so.

This is no soft spot.

jimbo,

I saw nothing in Zito\'s comments that didn\'t make perfect sense to me. It can\'t be easy to get a horse 100% fit for a 10F Grade 1 race off a layoff that was caused by a minor injury. 7F has got be a bit easier. However, running into LITF, a rejuvenated Roman Ruler and whoever else doesn\'t sound like a picnic to me. IMHO, this is a  better way to start the comeback, but I agree with Zito when he says that a 1M race (probably against cheaper) would have been more ideal. It sounds to me like he still very very high on this horse.

Class,

Did you read/understand my post?  I don\'t disagree with Zito at all.

The Clown interprets this move as \"I guess Zito doesn\'t think he can bring him back running\".

You don\'t think he is going to need to come back \"running\" to beat Lost in the Fog at 7 furlongs?

Zito is taking no \"shortcut\" or easy path here.  Coming back in an allowance race might justify Clown\'s comments, but not coming back in the Kings Bishop.
