Just something to keep in mind.  Albany newspaper reporting that Ken Bruno(son of majority leader Joe Bruno) is \"striking\" out on his own as a lobbyist.  With only a couple of years experience in this line of work (former D.A. in his father\'s district) the paper reports that Magna is one of the clients who will support his new endeavor.  It is good to see that Stronach is willing to take a shot on this young upstart.

\'A leading critic of the influence of highly paid lobbyists on state government said \"it is fascinating he is able to break out on his own like this.\" \"All lobbyists sell access, that\'s the name of the game,\" said Blair Horner of the New York Public Interest Research Group. \"What he\'s pitching his clients, I don\'t know. It certainly doesn\'t hurt to have the last name Bruno.\" Bruno\'s father is the most powerful Republican in the state Legislature. \"It\'s highly unusual for someone to break out on their own and have that kind of client list, so he must be providing some service his clients really like,\" Horner said.\'

Unusual? Not in this case. It looks like Magna has made their first serious downpayment on the NY Racing Franchise. I wonder if this means we\'re going to have to stop calling it the Spa and start calling it the Joe (probably lost on those who don\'t live in the Capital region.)

Even though Magna seems currently like the only viable player to take over the NYRA properties there will be a great deal of due diligence undertaken.

Magna Entertainment\'s most recent financials were less than stellar, no?

If Frank gets NYRA, can we look forward to a \"Sunshine Millions\" type event pitting NY breds v. Cal breds v Fla breds? THAT would liven up the Inner Tube.

And in Huge Conflict of Interest Which Could Only Happen in New York Part II, Bruno\'s son has also been hired by the NY Jets to push their West Side stadium.

Fla Derby.. I don\'t care who wins. I have been rooting against all Live Oak Plantation horses since Charlotte Weber took horses away from Pat Kelly after he won 2 Grade I races for her within 1/2 hour.

It\'s already a done deal. Unbelievable even to a Chicagoan. Jets got the property for around $125 mill, even though Madison Square Garden corp. was ready to pony up in excess of $550 mill. for the same.

The people should be storming the bastille!

May they all come home safely!
