1...grade 1 winner at 2yrs.
2...2 races at 3yrs, and
3...a bounce before the derby
Afleet Alex is still my horse!!!!!

Of the last 6 Derby winners, none of them competed in any Graded Stakes at two. Several had just broken their maidens in December.

Afleet Alex has never won a route race, what makes you think his sprint pedigree will suddenly propel him 10f come 5/07 afternoon?

May they all come home safely!

not sure how many of you have seen Rockport Harbor up close - he is a tremendous looking animal.  when he came out late at OAKLAWN people\'s jaws dropped around the saddling area...not to say that Afleet looked bad, or that the \'Good looked average, but it was really somehting to see Rocky next to them.

Gvido\'s ? is solid...there is no evidence at this point to get on Afleet Alex going 2 turns.  Johny V is now 0 for 10 @ Oaklawn (can you believe that?) & the return call on AA will make him 0 for 11 unfortunately.

Like many of you, I wonder if we have seen or discussed the Derby horse yet.  I have been on the Consolidator bandwagon and his last confirmed what I thought was always there - and if this horse is going to continue to improve, I don\'t see him losing it.  If, if , if...the Steve Haskin book \"holy grail\" has a nice guide for Derby winners (and most of them pointed out on this board of course)and it is almost comical how many times over the last 6 years I have arrived at that horse only to get to the big day and say \"no way\"...hope to end that streak this year...god, it\'s a helluva lot of fun, ain\'t it?
