The only bet I\'ve made so far is the field in the last pool at 6-1. I\'m kinda liking that bet right now-- probably end up with 6-10 starters.

As I said a couple of weeks ago, note the date, guys. This is just the start of when things get serious, and things can change in a hurry. Just ask Tim Ritchey.

Right now it looks pretty clear that Zito is the guy to watch. Also the Kentucky Racing Commission. As I said in the letter that didn\'t get published last week-- as I sat down to handicap the futures, I realized that we all have to answer the big 3 handicapping questions: will there be a detention barn for the Derby, will they be freezing samples, and which vets are treating which horses?

NYRA\'s move today will probably start a landslide-- it will be interesting to see how quickly (slowly)it moves.

1)Will there be a detention barn for the Derby?

No too many trainers will be against it who have major clout.

2)Will they be freezing samples??

The positives would be bad publicity, they will bury the evidence.

3)And which vets are treating which horses?

This would be a good project for Watchmaker and Privman in their Derby Watch to list the Vets.

I have to relay a story from one day at the Louisville Sports Spectrum when renowned vet Doc Harthill dropped by to watch a horse of his running at Fair Grounds. My small group struck up a friendly conversation, and being the instigator I am I decided to ask him who was going to win that years Ky Derby.

Harthills reply, \"I don\'t know, I probably won\'t decide until the day of the race\"

It just goes to show that no one is really interested in catching cheaters.  The state will lose handle money since people bet less, the Tracks don\'t want to have a bad name, the owners don\'t want to lose their purse money.  So exactly who will benefit from catching cheaters?  The bettors and of course we dont\' have any voide except to vote with our feet and not bet.
The same goes for professional sports.

TGJB,
parole board and shamardal run this saturday in dubai. they both look like solid three year olds. if you get a 1/2 finish in decent time, the field bet will look even better. having locked in high fly at 32-1, i was ready to take the field at 8-1. unfortunately, they knocked it down to 6-1 with a few hours left...... BTW, the dubai world cup card looks great. you only need to hit one non-usa runner to make  money, since the odds here in the US are skewed so much in favor of the american runners. i hope everyone rolls out of bed in time to catch this great racing.
