pataki wants a one time $250 mio payment (approx) for ny racing. i guess frank pretty much has this one in the bag.

STB

Pataki also wants to set up a nine member panel to make a recommendation on the franchise question. Pataki, Bruno, and Silver would each pick three members of the panel. Frank\'s got Pataki\'s mentor, Bruno\'s son, and Silver\'s former chief of staff on nice fat lobbying retainers. So Golly Gee...ya think the panel, after months of diligent research, will come to the conclusion that giving Frank the franchise will be the bestest thing that could ever happen to NY racing?

Bring him on.

Though I am not convinced (not enough
of a record of success administering
racetracks) that he is the man best
suited to run New York racing, at least
I will be able to hear Three Dog Night
or Steppenwolf while I try to handicap
the late Pick 4 at Belmont.

In the words of one Woodford Cefis
Stephens \"Those buildings get awful
tall when you cross the Hudson\".

And it doesn\'t seem to concern anyone
that two entities-- Magna and CD--
will eventually control almost all
major racing venues in the US. Is this
a good thing?
