In todays 6th at Aqueduct, New Age (#2) ridden by Migliore absolutely crushed Storm Uprising (#1, Cotto riding) against the rail in the first turn therefore causing the #1 horse to lose all chance of winning the race. Despite turning sideways himself, the #2 horse quickly recovered and surpringly closed in the stretch to win the race by 3 or so lengths. After a inquiry, the stewards unbelievably did not take down the #2 even though he absolutely fouled the #1. No one at Suffering Downs where I watched the race could believe this especially me who had the second horse to win and the second and third horse in an exacta.
I have to think the NYRA guys must have had the #2 loaded up! This kind of stuff should not be allowed to happen. Asfufh

Asfufh,

I am not a big believer in the results being fixed and the stewards having preferences and all that crap.

However, that said, I absolutely have no idea why the 2 was not taken down.  Today was first horseracing betting day of the year and I had a decent sized bet on the 2 and actually stopped watching the race after the incident.  I started watching Gulfstream, only to hear that the 2 was sweeping the whole field in the stretch.  I got sick watching the head-on replay.  I thought it was VERY OBVIOUS that he was coming down.  I cannot explain why they didn\'t take him down.  Maybe they thought the 4 coming over slightly into the 2 caused him to veer inside, but that is a BIG STRETCH.

I won\'t look a gift horse in the mouth, but anybody out there who saw the race who can offer an opinion as to why the 2 wasn\'t taken down?   That was one of the strangest calls I have seen in my 20 years of betting horses.

Thanks on the P.Snort story asfufh. I\'m probably the games most unlucky bettor when it comes to disqualifications. I\'ve had 30-1 horses come down. If my horse won and theres an inquiry, he\'s coming down. If my horse finished second and theres a inquiry, its official. I apologize for not betting the 2 that race.

Jimbo, its always good to have a little luck.

CtC, Yea, been there, done that. Someone should set up a fraternal group named something like The Benovolent Society of Snakebitten Horseplayers. I think lots of players would qualify to join. Any way ,good luck. Asfufh
Ps: Are you sure you didn\'t bet the #8 in the AQI 6th  :)?

Chuckles_the_Clown2

yes I bet the 8. I don\'t think I\'ve ever disqualified into a win. The recently retired Walter Blum cost me an easy chalky 20 something dollar perfecta I had many times on a  phantom interference. I\'ll never forget the words. \"Glitterman intimidated the Hell out of Big Stanley\".  I\'ve lost more on disqualifications but that one bothered me most. The fans smashed video monitors in the outdoor section. I think Walter had a bet...lol
