I have not seen any stories about ADW\'s being hit with ransom-ware like this weeks Casino story.

It\'s not apples to apples but I mistakenly thought the casino\'s would have state-of-the-art protection.

Hopefully because ADW\'s were born on the internet they have protective technology i.e. their backup and retore is the priority it must be!

Like anybody leaves a big win in their account overnight anyway.

" Like anybody leaves a big win in their account overnight anyway."

Like this idiot who just withdrew his funds after reading this.

I have several ADW accounts. Last night my Twinspires account was hit for the sum of $2K. That is, twinspires reached out and grabbed $2,000 from my bank account. Then made a losing bet with it!

Am I being unreasonable being angry with TwinSpires because they won\'t talk to me while the risk management department investigates.

The risk management depart doesn\'t accept incoming calls nor make outgoing calls until the investigation is concluded. according to Kris S. customer service via chat.

So be advised and not naive as yours truly. Reducing the daily deposit limits on ones account seems like a good next step for me. So my next move is to call NY Bets to make whatever account adjustments I can.

Alternative funding my account by other means which would limit my liability deserves consideration.

The bottom line - if an ADW can take money from my bank account they may also be able to take your money!!

So, I called NYRA and was told the only funding source is a bank account. Then I requested a new funding limit in a small amout. I was advised that my request had to be approved and I would receive a call back to update me.

I mentioned a two step login procedure would be a nice option to prevent so-called hacking.

Twin Spires says hacking - I says prove it. c/b disgruntled employee or who really knows.

This is f!?*ed up,  and why isn’t two factor authentication a must?

I agree, I think it is on us to insist the ADW provide such a safeguard to their customer.

NYRA Bets has been somewhat responsive to my efforts to protect myself from a similar experience. I asked them for a transaction limit. They offered up daily and weekly limits. That worked for me.

I forget exactly which, but either twinspires or expressbet actually ask you for your password when you call .

They claim you can have the account flagged to ask another question, but jesus, how is that reasonable ?

The next day of ADW security saga.

Since Twinspires would not talk to me I went to my Bank (Regions) for assistance. Of course I now recommend you do this ahead of time to familiarize yourself both with your banks policies and procedures as well as personnel.

I told my story and explained my situation only to discover the bank personnel are spending much of their time on fraud of one form or another. I was given a form to sign asserting I did not authorize the ACH transaction or any further transactions from TwinSpires. In less than 8 hrs and not overnight my accout was made whole.

Timing is key, taking this action sooner than later is best. Later I get an email from what is, I suspect, a TwinSpires department that is not the Risk Management Department researching the actual crime. The email insists I make Twinspires whole including an additional $25 fee. Propably a form letter.

I could not resist and once again stated I had filed grand theft charges against TwinSpires and I was now amending the complaint to include this new twinspires person individually.

So despite the incompetence and failings of Twinspires. Tomorrow I talk to Personal Injury attorneys to see if I have a case. Oh and meanwhile I have a new Checking account because Twinspires has effecively leaked my old banking account and personnel information to what is certainly some cyper criminal or organization.

Again I say you are at risk unless you take the time investigate your own risk situation.

As for NYBETS they did what I requested but did not call me back (yet) as they said they would.

To bad we can’t go back to betting the A and B horse at the NYC OTB

Are you sure it wasnt a hack from your side ?

If they were compromised, you\'d expect more than one account to be affected.

Boscar,

I am an IT guy. I run 4 o5 computers on my network. How ever only one computer was turned on on the day I was told by TS customer service the event occured. Twinspires which does capture the client ip at logon also divulged to me the ip at the time of the crime was not the one I almost always login from.

The security on my network is prettty tight. Only a device whose mac address is on a white list can access my network plus a good password is also required with no DHCP. Further wireless access is off during the night hours the event is to have occurred. i.e. 4:00 a.m. est. Oh edit P.S. none of my devises (computers) is set as a mobile hot spot

On the other hand I suppose a possibility I\'m unaware of could have been used.

Further - I have not been told officially that my account was accessed from outside twinspires. I was told that mine is not the first intstance of this type of problem by customer service.

Note - I discovered the transactions not twinspires. Rember the days when management got a morning report of yesterdays exceptions? Well surely a $1900 win bet at Sha Tin should warrant review. They probably don\'t handle $1,900 a day at ShaTin but who knows.

What confuses me most is why they won\'t communicate with me. I think it is the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing?  No I can\'t log on.

Boscar Obarra

I have no doubt you know what you\'re doing.

Thing is, how does a win bet at Sha Tin help the hacker?

If it wins, how would they get the money out ?

Another big day of racing about to be ruined by the weather. It looks like rain and wind all weekend in Bensalem perhaps even leading to a postponement of the Saturday card.

Roman

That\'s assuming they wanted to get the money out, I was wondering the same thing.

I know this might be sound stupid, but what if the hacker bet that just to manipulate the pool? Since the hacker could not withdraw the funds if the horse  and wager won?

Sha tins win pool is usually in the millions …I checked Saturday night 4 million plus
