Horse racing is really thriving hhahaaha.  Best I got is to redboard I tipped Uncle Bill a winner a week ago or so.  Hope he cashed big. The gamblers the last concern to the \"powers that be.\"

And the whip rules in NY, “To me and The Jockey Club, we see a future where hitting an animal with a stick isn\'t going to be acceptable anymore,” Gagliano said.

And the excuses keep coming!  Also note Max Security is tearing up his works all of a sudden.  Will anyone be surprised to see a huge negative number put up in the Classic?  Will they ever get this guy?

Tom,

If you are lucky, Gamine can win the Eclipse for Comeback Horse of the Year after two Drug Positives this year if she can win the F/M Sprint AND Produce a CLEAN test.  Can\'t think of a more deserving horse or trainer.

BC Draw presentation stated she is \"lethal\" at 7f.  Let\'s hope she doesn\'t get one of those lethal doses those 7 horses did a few years back in that barn.  You can\'t make this stuff up!!

I guess next is the dog ate the homework.
This guy\'s record should require a long suspension.

Fairmount:

As you took your legal training from the Jesuits (the \"academic\" wing of the RC
Church) I know you would be disappointed if you did not receive at least some
mild opposition.

Firstly I am on record and in agreement with you that Baffert deserves some
sort of lifetime achievement award for his dubious record of violations over
the years, not to mention the tragic incident you mention. Maybe even set a
precedent using Ole Bob, totally shutting the barn down for 30 days, employees
go on unemployment for 30 days (and if unemployment on steroids returns, most
of these employees will get a well earned one month rest while probably
collecting more than their weekly wage), runners turned out or transferred to
trainers not employed by BB.

The old system whereby hypothetical trainer B gets suspended for 15 days and
trains the horse by cell phone is not really a penalty. Especially if trainer
B\'s runners win races in B\'s absence. Does anyone really think trainer B is not
collecting his \"stake\" for these wins? The old system imposes a penalty how? I
guess only if said trainer cares about his reputation.

As the overages have piled up, BB continues to get bloodstock as good as any
trainer gets, even your second favorite trainer Chad Brown1. BB does
not have to worry about his reputation or continued influx of expensive young
horses. The problem is that he is \"too big too fail\", but even individuals,
corporations and institutions which are characterized as such should not be
(and are not) \"too big to be punished\" (even if the punishment rarely fits the
transgression).

Now for the mild opposition. Reviewing Bloodhorse it appears that a few
weeks before the Ky Oaks Kentucky changed the withdrawal time for the
medication Gamine tested positive for, betamethashazizzle, from 14
to seven days. BB\'s legal representative has contended that the \"beta\" was
administered 17 days before race day, and that the Baffert vet team was well
aware of the change in regulations. It is also noted that different runners
will pass this therapeutic medication through their systems at different rates.

Problem for BB\'s attorney: At this point does your client deserve the benefit
of the doubt?? Multiple violator/overage in (another) historically significant
Gr I race, appropriate punishment please. Please no more slaps on the wrist,
both of B\'s wrists are very sore from repeated slapping.

Gamine: the race this filly did not test positive post race for was The Acorn.
One of the most brilliant races I have seen at NYRA this century. Not running
straight and not being persevered with, I think she could have broken track
record at Belmont that day.

I mentioned that I hoped she would not get 9 furlongs in the Oaks and hoped
that she would come back in BC Sprint v males (she may have been a short price
in that race also), but as you say, maybe she can run the table and win BC AND
test clean afterwards.

________
In a recent NYRA turf sprint, your second favorite trainer Chad B had NO
entries, but Karl Broberg had one, first Broberg runner I\'ve seen at NYRA, but
not watching every day. The chart reveals the Broberg runner had the best view
as they say in the trade.

Richiebee,

I think I read where finding NYRA positive tests for anyone is like finding Santa Claus at the North Pole.  It ain\'t happening.  So that Acorn...Hmmm...one for the ages.  This guy has more hall of fame performances and horses in his barn than anyone in the history of the game b/c \"he gets better stock.\"  Love that argument.  Guess Pletcher doesn\'t get the best stock anymore. Or he forgot how to train.

Ultimately though, here is my question with the \"better stock\" argument.  If he really is just getting all the horses that are many lengths faster than why would he possibly have to ever use these therapeutic medications whatsoever?  Wouldn\'t they be able to run clean (dare I say even without lasix)...I mean Completely Clean.  Bob would lead you to believe that they do but he has lots and lots of contamination issues dating back to the morphine positive near the turn of the century.

Guy has 3 horses in the Classic.  How do you bet this race?  Max Sec been working like a superhorse lately with this as the goal all year, Improbable likely fav after getting WinStar some Breeding hype and value with summer G1 glory while putting Max in backseat, and My Racehorse\'s Less than Authentic Transparency about ownership whose Derby winner\'s circle antics screamed hyped up on some serious Oats and Hay.  Hey, if people can play this race with confidence with the Battle Of Bafferts (the BOB\'s), then more power to you.  I\'ll wager a few bucks but nothing serious on that race... likely involved as part of a p5 if I make it that far.  For people to say this is one of the best Classic\'s in recent memory is outlandish to me but hey each is entitled to their opinion just like in the voting booth today.

Good hearing from you.  Love the post.  Broberg an awesome follow on Twitter.  You really should check twitter out just to follow all these guys for the entertainment.  For now, enjoy this gem of an article below.  Click on the article with Baffert\'s face.

Handicapping front, Serengetti gives Gamine no shot to win as they battle royale on the front end.  Likely sets up for a horse like Bell\'s the One but cheering for Inthemidstofbiz to hit the board, once owned by close friends at Fairmount.  I saw her several times at Margaux Farm in Kentucky, a beautiful place where they had high hopes for her before Wayne Catalano cast her off as a 20k claimer much to my shock.  The trainer always knows more than the handicapper hahahaha....
