BREAKING: prize-money for the world\'s richest race, the Saudi Cup, has been withheld due to criminal charges against the winning horse\'s trainer, Jason Servis, in the US. More to follow at http://racingpost.com

If found guilty, could US tracks also engage in law suits against the trainers and the connection?  This would certainly be a deterrent!

The problem I see with respect to tracks suing is such suits would open them up to pre trial discovery regarding what they knew and what they did ( or did not do)with information in their possession. If I were representing a disgruntled owner suing Servis, Navarro etc. I would consider naming the tracks as defendants in any lawsuit.

Withheld? Meaning it hasn’t already been paid? Just exactly how long is it supposed to take for winners to collect on their winnings?

Boscar Obarra

Seemed a no brainer that they would withhold that purse, with the indictment coming so soon after the win

JimP

Waiting for the price of oil to go back up?

I have no reason -- at all -- to think the West\'s were complicit with their Servis  dealings but they are really smart people and hard to imagine they didn\'t at least have some pause in dealing with him. They have been very generous with their massive donations over the years. They sure have had some poor luck with the DQ in the Derby and now this. Good luck collecting -- lawyers will do them no good in this case. Could be a gigantic payday for 2-5.

Is Jockey Club Saudi Arabia (JCSA) going to withhold the purse until the end of
Servis\' trial and all subsequent appeals?

What I am not understanding is that assuming (a) Servis is convicted of
procuring and administering PEDS and (b) Maximum Security\'s blood, urine,
sweat, hair follicles and poop all come back completely CLEAN after the Saudi
Arabia race, how does that add up to any kind of purse redistribution?

What I am hoping this means is that JCSA will look very closely at MaxSec\'s
post race samples. Since they have plenty of time (if they are going to wait
the end of the trial and appeals) they can look at MaxSec\'s Saudi samples and
try to somehow compare them to frozen samples from previous Servis runners. I
do not know what they might be looking for but they might find it.

...but my OPINION if MaxSec ran absolutely CLEAN in Saudi Arabia, there is no
way Wests can lose any part of the purse based on their trainer\'s misdeeds.
Unless someone signed an oath....

Isn\'t that in it\'s self part of the problem.  The West are playing the deny, deny, deny game that they didn\'t know Servis was a cheater.  Please!  Then they move Max to Baffert?  Really at some point; if this game is ever going to be cleaned up, the owners must be held accountable.

I for one; hope and pray, that they lose the $10 million and tracks across the country sue them and the trainers.  Maybe the hole mess would force change.  T.

Forget it, Jake. It\'s Saudi Arabia.

Exactly so!

As my international law professor taught: \"The thing you have to remember is, there is hardly any international law. The guiding principle is, the guy with the most tanks generally gets to decide what the law is.\"

Trump won\'t bring his tanks to bear, so Servis/West tanks are outgunned by MBS\'s. Ipso facto, no pay-o.
