As for the last 4, I don\'t believe any of them ever won another race.

Good Luck,

Which angle holds more water?
This one or Bafferts record in the Preakness with Derby winners?
Figure speaking Bafferts seems to wheel back pretty good

Baffert’s hard to handicap. His horses do things horses aren’t supposed to do. That said, I’m going to the Preakness and I’m going to try to beat the favorite so I’m looking for an excuse. Let’s see if some cheap speed signs up for this race. Owners with even a whisper of a chance often throw their horses in to the mix.

Justify doesn\'t need the lead.

If cheap speed enters, he\'ll sit off the pace.

I’ve seen faster horses than Justify lose. Young horse playing catch up just to get into the derby now running back on 2 weeks rest. Maybe a ton of talent there but he’s still an animal and the spacing is bad. I’ll try to get him now.

Looking over the final numbers for the derby and undercard so many horses X’d I’m throwing the whole day out. The track had to be so freakishly wet horses either liked it or they didn’t.

I had that thought before the race was even run.
I also thought Baffert made a interesting statement.
“The horse probably carried an additional 15lbs of water weight.”

JR

If he carried an extra 15lbs. of water weight, what did the horses behind him carry? They carried mud.

Why is Baffert hard to handicap? His horses RUN everywhere, even different continents, whether they\'re first time starters or off long layoffs or had a few runs. They run faster numbers than any other trainer in the history of the sport. He comes up with one superstar after another after another. And usually, unlike some other top trainers, when his horses can no longer perform at that level he stops racing them before they flop on the track. At this point in his career, he\'s the easiest trainer in history to handicap. Then only caveat is his horses don\'t improve much. That\'s because they run so fast they don\'t need to. I def. have a few trainers I have no idea whatsoever what they\'re horses are going to do, but he\'s not one of them.

Baffert is a HOFer but I also think the apex predator types he\'s had over the years like AP, Arrogate, Justify skew public opinion.  People forget his other horses with erratic patterns like Dortmund, American Anthem, Cupid etc.  When you have a Gun Runner-type in your barn you just try and mess up a good thing...mother nature takes care of the rest.

What then do you make of his pedestrian results at CD so far this meet?  Justify was his only winner even with some highly regarded horses.  A far cry from his Belmont Stakes Day invasion.
