Gun Runner 4/5 -- Post position #10. Tough draw.

The draw, and the presence of Sharp Azteca, make this an interesting betting race.     Can\'t see how the pace isn\'t quick.  Castellano isn\'t going to let a bunch of horses come over top of him, so he\'s going with a horse that can win near the lead.  Smith, et al, have already said that laying back with Collected was a mistake.  Giant Expectations won his last on the front end.

And then there\'s Sharp Azteca, who has worked blindingly fast.  Can anyone remember a Calder work in :58 and 2/5?  Ever?

With a wide trip from GR, all of the above (and War Story and Gunnevera) have the TG figs to finish in front of the 4/5 favorite.

A decent payday is on offer, and if not, we\'ll see a great performance from a champion.

As bad as the Friday card is -- the Saturday card is that great. From a \"1\" to a \"10.\" Interesting races. Big fields. Quality card. Good handicapping will be rewarded instead of just guessing who may run back to a previous good figure or even who will successfully finish the race. Friday -- a total pass for me. Saturday -- now that is what we are talking about!

Read that one of the conditions of the race is
“Runners who decline raceday lasix is allowed 7lbs”.
Any takers?

Boy, that\'s a news story. Nobody took them up on it, I\'ll bet most didn\'t know. My guess is O\' Brien would have.

Workouts sometimes help, but anyone recall the great workout of Groovy?  Prepping for the 1987 Breeders Cup Sprint, he was shooting bullets like crazy.  I recall 3 Furlongs @ 32 or 33 plus, 4 furlongs @ 42 or 43.  But the 3 furlong bullets made him look like a Mortal Lock.  Heavy favored Groovy was upset in the Breeders\' Cup Sprint, finishing second by four lengths to the filly Very Subtle.

I\'m just saying.
