Wild Again

I don\'t know if this true, but my wife of all people saw a Belmont preview featuring Lani.

The gist of the preview; the surface at Belmont is the same as the racing surfaces in Japan,Lani did not take to the track for the Derby or Preakness; Lani loves Big Sandy, Lani wins the Belmont.

Could this be true.

Thanks

Well, he\'s borderline competitive on numbers, and I like that he doesn\'t use Lasix, so he\'s less likely to regress; he also should stay the distance; no problem there. My beef is his closing style, which generally isn\'t too effective in this race, and the track strongly favored speed yesterday. Not worst long shot though. I might throw him in on some horizontal wagers and even underneath in some vertical. You could pick a worse longshot breeding wise. Personally, I\'m looking toward the horses with some speed: Gettysburg seems to slow on sheets, so I will zero in on the two Pletcher runners, Strad and Destin, and even Gov. Malibu who perhaps may lay a bit closer with the rail and the lack of pace in the race. I thought his Peter Pan was solid. I take a dim view of all the closers here--Ex. is ultra consistent though so he\'s hard to knock really, but I believe I will look for some value. Strad. and Destin are the most interesting to me though their sheet patterns are a little tricky to read. Gov Malibu is rounding into form in typical Clement fashion and Clement is 41% wins off a top in the last 90 days! He also gave Unified a run for his money, and Unified in my opinion is the 3 year old with the most upside, and I think way better than the ones we\'ve seen so far. Clement knows how to win this race! good luck. Can\'t blame you for liking Lani though. All the best.

Well put! That\'s exactly how I feel. I\'m either going to very right or very wrong! feels like that kind of card in general.

He ran a nice race considering his third in 5 weeks. That ride was a big question mark, though. He makes a move on the backstretch then gets out the whip toward the end of the final turn.

The horse was about four wide it seemed, the whole way around. Two Gray Tapits in the top three. As I said a month or two ago, we have Gray Tapit bubble!

According to Trakus he lost 87 feet of ground, so he likely gets the best figure in the race.

I give up criticizing this horse.  He ran well.

that was a rough beat for those of us that liked Destin.  No excuse.  Good trip, had lead, couldn\'t close it down.  Irad gave the winner a nice ride considering he took back early.

Some other thoughts on the race:

Suddenbreakingnews was horrendous.  With the benefit of hindsight, this horse being 9/2 vs Creator at 16-1 were extremely distorted odds.

Not surprised that Exaggerator ran poorly.  As many discussed, squeezed the lemon quite a few times, not an ideal style for the 1 1/2 mile (quick turn of foot type).  He was empty all the way around, but had he had any run, some would have wondered why Kent was hanging out 4 wide down the backstretch.

The rabbit had no major effect on the race.  The pace was not fast.  Seemed par and fair relative to the final time.  Maybe without the rabbit Javier wires, but really Destin had no excuse, just got by a horse that was a shade better today.

Some mixed TG results if one were to give an honest scorecard.

1.  Cupid looked awful on TG and ran to it.

2.  On most measures Flintshire looked \"death and taxes\", but was only mediocre on TG.  Was tons the best.  (Ironicus would have been closer if clear early, but wasn\'t going to win)

3.  Tossing Maggie and putting Carina on top made the Acorn a winning TG race.

4.  Big negative TG push on Celestine who was only slightly less impressive than Frosted today, considering how few turf races get blown open like that.

5.  Frosted and Kid Cruz were bad TG results, but frankly were bad results on all data.  (Kid Cruz was fastest on all data while Frosted was only \"one of the ones\' on all the data.  Maggie, who has a keen eye, had Frosted looking below average today.  Wonder how fast frosted would have run if he looked good.

6.  Gonna take this poster awhile to get over the Belmont.  Had $2.50 super with Destin holding on.  Despised Lani, but after listening to Brad Thomas tout him strongly and also TGJB give him a push in the seminar, decided to put him in the 3rd/4th slot only, instead of tossing.  Played the two Pletchers on top, with them plus the winner, Suddenbreakingnews and Governor Malibu in the 2nd slot, then spreading in the 3rd and 4th (tossing the rabbit + the 2 Dallas Stewarts only). Super was 14k for $1 with the 13 winning.  Maybe half as much with Destin winning?  Not sure, but it was a score.

Tough game.

check ur data buddy....kid cruz slow on sheets....ill send u race..easy toss

jimbo66

no idea what you are talking about Touchgold.

He was clearly the horse to beat on the TG Data.  In the seminar TGJB said something like he had 6 figures on dry dirt the last 2 years and they all likely win this race.

Now, if you are talking the Ragozin sheets, then talk to somebody else (as I have no interest in Ragozin numbers).  I believe only morons, lemmings and those that don\'t know better use that product.  (no name calling there, there are three distinct buckets, only one is unkind....)

Good luck,

Jim

touchgold

whatever...he said fastest on all data,,i was merely correcting him...i bought the tg seminar, and he was FAST..on sheets, he was SLOW....so, do what u want with that

touchgold

also, tg tosses today...celestine/frosted.....no one is perfect..but the bashing just totally out of line...juvenile and really just stupid....agree to disagree and MOVE ON

touchgold

and just an fyi, jimbo, i dont recall talking to you...SO THE \"IF YOURE TALKING TO ME\" does not apply....i have great respect for tg...but everyone gets races wrong...

jimbo66

Touchgold,

Sorry if you see it as a bash.  But I have Spent time on that board over there and like I said, morons and lemmings.  There hasn\'t been a productive discussion in 10 years over there about figures.  Their figures come out as if from Mt. Sinai on tablets and never to be questioned, despite when obviously wrong (which can happen on any figure by the way).

People question figures here too.  (I did this morning - on cupid and flintshire).  No condescending responses.

So, posting here AFTER THE FACT that Kid Cruz was a toss on sheets is pretty childish in my view.  Maybe they did get one right.  Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Good luck - if you are using Rags, you need it.

jimbo..message me..i sent my belmont plays out to friends HOURS before the races....ill send it to u....ill agree the board there is pretty dull...sans cartouche..and len...but when it all comes down to it, its a matter of how u read them etc..i dont redboard and will say, last races were not good to me...but I did nail the exacta in question and would be MORE THAN HAPPY to forward u email timestamped.

Bet Twice

Looking at the results of a race and using that to say someone \"got it right\" or \"got it wrong\" seems silly to me, regardless of wether that someone is TG or rags.  Horses are not machines and regularly run better or worse than previous numbers.  I didn\'t buy data for today as I had other commitments but let\'s assume Frosted ran a new top, does that make the previous data on any service incorrect, or just that he ran a new top?  Comes down to whose methodology you trust.

touchgold

it does no good to come on tg board prior to race, point out a seminar horse, and comment. Out of respect for tg, i do not mention seminar horses.
