Does any one know the specifics of Churchill\'s Pick 6??
I believe it is called the single 6 and is similar to Gulfstream\'s rainbow 6.
Is it a 20 cent minimum??
What percentage of days pool is returned to winners if not a single winner??
Thanks.

From the Churchill Downs website:

A carryover pool of $686,309 from Churchill Downs' $2 Pick 6 on Kentucky Derby Day will be split when racing returns Thursday. Half of the pool - $343,154 - will be included in Thursday's first 20-cent minimum Single 6 Jackpot. Thursday's Single 6 Jackpot pool requires a mandatory payout, regardless of whether an on-track or simulcast patron selects winners of all six Churchill Downs races included in the wager.

The remaining $343,154 from the Derby Day carryover goes into the Friday, May 13 opening pool of the meet-long Single 6 Jackpot. Single 6 Jackpot rules require that the pool be paid-out only if there is a single winning ticket-holder. If multiple tickets contain six winners, 90 percent of that day's pool will be paid out and 10 percent will be added to the wager's carryover. If there are no tickets with six winners, the entire pool is added to the carryover; there are no consolation payouts. Takeout on the 20-cent-minimum Single 6 Jackpot is 15 percent, one of the lowest multi-race wager takeout rates in American racing.

Thanks much.
So if I\'m reading this correctly, there is a mandatory payout on Thursday and whereas Gulfstream paid out 70% if no single ticket, CD will pay out 90%.

Churchill will pay out 350k + additional money tomorrow for .20 cent ticket. Does not have to be a single ticket winner. Mandatory payout.
Friday the same pool jackpot pool - single winner 20 cent - is seeding with 300k to start like the Rainbow.

confusing I know but tomorrow is a lot of dead money for a mandatory payout and 20 cent pick 6.

I agree. However, chance of thunderstorms tomorrow. Could be an off track or soggy turf making the handicapping more challenging.

A $.20 Pick 6 with a 15% takeout, with NO rake for consolation tickets and 90% of the pool paid out to day-to-day winners.

If dreamers chase the jackpot the way the do at GP (by overbetting and spreading with all unique combinations), this thing could quickly turn into the best bet in racing.

no turf races in the P6, fwiw

Plenty of rain (thunderstorms) tonight in Louisville area with more T-storms forecast for tomorrow late afternoon/evening (5:00 pm first post).

Track fast to start but some real heavy stuff will be in the area by the 6th race if not a little before. Severe T-storms.

We still have to take a swing though!!!!
My broker E.F. Rocky (mathcapper) says its the best bet in racing! He\'s not one to argue with about numbers.

Good luck to all, its a very tough sequence.

I went to the horse book in Borgata today before the start of the fourth to play this and wasn\'t able to?  (Only pick 3 being offered)

What\'s with the restriction? The lady behind the window just said you can\'t do that here, no further explanation given? Any ideas? Being shut out of the best bet in racing is less than awesome.

Consider this your lucky Friday the 13th.  It is only the best bet in racing on Mandatory Pay days.  Today is not a mandatory pay (yesterday was).  On none mandatory pay days, it is a downright terrible bet.

No sane bookmaker would ever book a bet like this, if you went to a real book, I wouldnt expect them to offer it.  If they feed into the pools, I do not know why they wouldn\'t let you play.  Maybe some places dont want to deal with the 20 cent bet increments?
