... for giving me a great thrill thinking that was Adventist coming up the rail
in the Wood and almost nipping the TAP winner.

Larry the Screamer just having a Steve Harvey moment, I guess better today than a
month from now.

Concentrate more on the action and less on how your call is going to sound for
the stallion commercials.

Recurring reminder: If we need you to scream to make the finish of a race
exciting, we didn\'t bet enough.

We have all had embarrassing moments...but...wow. As bad as it was, it would have been a disaster if the 81-1 actually won and he called the wrong horse in the biggest race at Aqueduct. He must have had a wager on the other horse. I saw Trevor do that once or twice but not in a race like the Wood.

TGJB

Guy named Durkin did it with a horse called Mine That Bird...

I just watched the Mine That Bird KY Derby. It wasn\'t quite as bad as the Collmus call today. Durkin was focused on Pioneerof The Nile and fell asleep when MTB \"flew\" on the rail. I didn\'t remember him winning by that much. He acted really surprised and made the winning call after the race was essentially over but didn\'t call the wrong horse\'s name like Collmus did. Tough business. When Deputy Commander won the Travers, Durkin told us he guessed in his call he beat Behrens by an inch and held his breath until the final decision was posted after 5 minutes. He said he would have felt terrible if he called the wrong winner in such a big race.

Anyone care to explain how the 3 ran second in the Wood other than I needed Adventist to run 2nd?

Good Luck,

Not only did he call the wrong horse, he didn\'t realize the mistake until after the race.  He called him incorrectly 5 times and did it the entire final 1/8. Blue saddle cloth vs white saddle cloth. Wow, that was as bad as it gets.

The same way Arnold\'s filly won the Ashland.

TGJB up and posting at 7:00 AM, What is the world coming to?

Funny game.
Had 4 monitors going playing multiple tracks + the Masters on TV.
As Collmus is calling the stretch run of the Wood,  I see the 3 (the fake Adventist) and knowing I bet the 2 (the real Adventist) ....
I start cussing myself out for punching the wrong number. No blaming the tellers in LRD!
If this makes little or no sense.......don\'t worry....neither did that race.

We\'re both smiling with the pool 3 Exaggerator ticket in our pockets.

Let me warn you, however, that yesterday in the span of one hour i was split by an 81-1 shot and needed an 82-1 (yep, I keyed Crafty\'s Way in the last at Kee.)I mean how many people walk into Bob\'s Burgers when they\'re out of them.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

Race callers don\'t identify horses by saddle cloth colors.
They memorize the silks worn by the jocks.
I\'m not a fan of Collmus, but I think it is a very difficult profession.

TAP reportedly let out a groan when Arnold filly ran past Rachel\'s Valentina, who ran much the best fighting Carina Mia then holding Cat Sophia off.

Guess Songbird like 2-5 in Oaks after another unchallenged walkover

the guy bashed himself on national tv after making the mistake.

piling on a guy who just bashed himself on national tv probably isn\'t the right thing to do.

I\'m aware they identify silks, its easier to see than saddle cloths which are often obstructed.

However, going down the stretch, anyone watching could clearly see the bright blue saddle cloth.

For those of us in the color-blind club the #3 (number) was pretty obvious as well. Collmus must have been looking at the numbers -- saddle cloths were so different -- white/bright blue. #3 was on the rail and the #2 was 5 wide. He realized his mistake when announcing the show horse who he just called as the place horse. Not piling on. I feel sorry for the guy. His pre-race handicapping probably got in the way not thinking an 81-1 would make the outcome close. Both horses were also moving from behind.
