Ok so given that, added back in Shug\'s turf west coasters to increase sample size. 14 starters-3/4/4/3 or percentage wise: 21%, 29%, 29%, 21%. Which really is about the same as before, 50/50 to run well.

Your point at the end of the intro from last year regarding - recently, almost all the horses that looked to be tailing off, continued to tail off. That does sort of fit Honour Code to a T.  Of course he won\'t be shipping across country this time so that\'s a big difference.

On the Classic field and likely ground loss - does it seem to anyone else like it could come up a bit short this year?  AP/B/T/HC/ICE/FR/SMOOTH. That\'s 7. Liam\'s Map and Glen Eagles if they both were to start would be 9 and maybe Hard Aces (hard to see why they would off his last but he does have the free pass in with the win and your race) would be 10. Wicked Strong apparently not going (dirt mile).  Maybe Hopportunity? Justs seems like might not be a full gate.

Going to be an interesting four weeks. At least it\'s on dirt so we don\'t have to consider poly. Thanks heavens for small favours.

Miff\'s last comment is right on target.  Was at Keeneland Saturday and thought Judy the Beauty ran big despite not winning and Runhappy ran Huge on Friday.  Dirt track stays in great shape despite heavy rains but weather could play huge role.

Point well taken. Not much out in California.

On East Coast, what about Effinex, V.E. Day? Lea? Coach Inge? Mylute?

phil23

Effinex, yes think I saw they are thinking that way with him. One guy, who granted is not exactly on form, I\'d love to see take a shot is Protonico. He\'s at KEE with TAP\'s others and he got good at this time last year. Pedigree screams 10f and he\'s run fast last year so any development could put him in it. But have heard word zero on it. Maybe Fayette instead?

Lea probably going in the Turf Mile.

Although both nice horses, I don\'t see Coach Inge or Effinex being a threat in the BC Classic.
VE Day would be interesting, but where\'s he been?

There will be tons of posts from now until October 31 but none more succinct than many of the top contenders will be eliminated at the draw.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

VE Day ran 2nd in the 12 1/2 furlong Temperance Hill stakes race at Belmont in September. Ground saving trip, flattened out in stretch. Doesn\'t seem like a BCC prep. The winner of the race, marathon specialist Tacticus broke down this weekend at Keeneland.
