I always thought the whole purpose of the gaming commission was to make sure that the game was conducted according to the rules to encourage bettors to feel safe in making their bets (and horse owners to run their horses). For example, I always thought that the Nevada Gaming Commission in Las Vegas provided a good housekeeping stamp of approval to make participants feel like it is safe for them to go to a casino and bet and they wont be cheated.  That was the whole idea why baseball got a commissioner in the first place in the wake of the black sox scandal.

If I understand correctly the purpose of the gaming commission, then how on earth does their failure to review a case where people felt they were flagrantly cheated, provide a good housekeeping stamp of approval?  This is going to scare people away, not encourage them to show up. What would Judge Landis have done?

If I misunderstood the purpose of the gaming commission, then what exactly is its purpose and why is it there? Who is the constituency? Who is it for? Who is it against?

I understand that the Commission does not want to sit there and review every single DQ and that the vast majority are in a grey area where you just defer to the finder of fact (like the criminal court system).  But there must be some recognition that every once in a blue moon, the stewards screw up so badly that they create am injustice beyond the pale. The commission should have at least had the decency to acknowledge that if the mistake appeared to be beyond the pale, they would review, but then explain why this mistake didn\'t raise to the level of meriting their review.

Rudy ran 1-2 in that one. I keyed Big Torpedo in my last play at Aqueduct/NYRA this year. I have no problem walking away from it for the next 3 months.

Good Luck,

According to an HRN story, what we have here is a failure to communicate. The horses were treated with Bute and one other legal drug both at OP before shipping and then (the assistant at RP not knowing they had already been treated) again after arriving.  Cox did not want to risk a suspension arising from the double doses.

He got them out in a hurry. Lot of no comments from connections, and HISA. Vet records being public would be usefuel here.
